Cyclotricity 250W fronthub speed

Hey does anyone know if cyclotricitys 250W roadlegal motors go up to 15.5 mph or 17mph (Legal 10% limit) and if its possible to increase to that with the LCD computer if its not built in.

Mine does.
Bought 3+ years back and has worked well though everything replaced now except the front hub motor which I have just re-greased though it didn't appear to need it.
I used to use throttle only without LCD and could get 20+mph which I still can by setting the LCD which I now have. It was only the battery that needed replacing as range was down to about 10 miles from the original 35 ish when new, I just fancied an upgrade for the wiring plus an LCD computer.
I must be one of the few, or maybe the only one, to set it to do around 12 mph as I use mainly off road and I'm to old to keep falling off.

So I bought a 1000w kit cos I felt like I wanted power. Do you reckon this will go to 17 MPH while it is under the effects of regulatoin?

1000w isn't legal, so not much point in regulating it to 15.5 mph. You can set it to whatever speed you want if you get the LCD.

They claim on there website that 1000W is legal as they use a loophole restricting it to 250W on the road and you need an LCD screen to derestrict it.

My bike with a BBS 01 motor will run at 18 mph on the flat.
And D8veh will remind you that it could reach 90 mph at beachy head.
Oh the controller is bust so the above figures are unpowered.
The 1000 watt with restrictions is pushing the law. A bit further than some other manufacturers do .

As I said, with the LCD, you can set the speed to whatever you want.

Also as the Kit im getting is gonna be throttle only, will this mean the ebrakes wont be needed as the engine stops as soon as I take my thumb off the throttle?

You probably want some form of cutout, as when throttles fail they often go fully open.

Most times the bikes brakes can overpower the motor, so it's more about protection of the motor. However, if you have more power and crap brakes, it could be a problem.

Ironically, if you use the brake lever supplied with most kits you will have crap brakes.

There are other options though. Hidden wire brake sensors for cable brakes, DIY if you have hydraulics. You could also think about not having a switch but have an easy way to kill the motor in an emergency.

Get the PAS and fit it along with the LCD. PAS is much more convenient than a throttle. Fit the throttle as well because there are times when it can be useful. Throttles are made of thin plasti. It's very easy to break one if you're using it like a motorbike. When you hit a bump at full throttle, the jog on your arm can be enough to break the throttle, then it sticks at at least 50%. If you try and hold it with the brake, you'll blow the controller. That's another reason why PAS is better. You won't like pedalling your bike with that kit when it's dead. You should fit at least one brake switch if you can.

Yes, but with a very slight delay.

The special brake levers won't fit, nor will the throttle.

You can get "hidden wire brake sensors that fit anywhere in the cable if you want brake cut-offs and keep your levers the same. You only need one switch. put it on the back brake.
