Probably bitter experience John, selling that type of build can attract a lot of time wasters.

As someone who's sold a fair bit of stuff on ebay over the last ten years, I have a lot of sympathy for this guy. I don't know why it should be the case, but eBay users are a special kind of stupid compared to any other customers I've dealt with.

True. But I've sold there for over ten years too and tone matters. If you come across as the sort who'll give a dusty answer to an honest question people will avoid you.

If you want to sell stuff you have to suffer the fools. Even if not gladly.

Maybe I'll ask him if it's got a EN15194 certificate.

That should be good for a laugh.

Eugh, all lower-case writing - he or she apparently can't be bothered to make the advert presentable. And yes, the tone too - I wouldn't dream of doing business with that seller.

I recall it was either WHY or AutoTrader magazine that recommended against 'no timewasters' messages in adverts. I'd have thought it was pretty obvious: if a seller might accuse a potential buyer of 'timewasting', that sounds like there's an obligation to purchase. Thus, such phraseology serves to reduce the number of respondents - not very wise!
