I don't know anything about dnp freewheel gear-sets (yet) and am interested in the Q128H motor d8veh is reviewing which needs one of these gear-sets.
Will this 7 speed one work ok with my existing KMC X8.93 chain, 8 speed shimano acera shifter and shimano M171 48/38/28 chainset and shimano alivio derailleur if I adjust the derailleur stops at one end or the other?
My cassette is currently rated 11-32 I don't use all my gears anyway and this one is 14-28 so will the motor+gears width be less with 7 speeds and therfore fit the frame easier too or are they spread apart more?

Yes, they are compatible. Indeed the Acera rear mechanism works well even on six sprocket cassettes and Megarange rear sprockets.

In general anything from 5 to 8 sprocket cassettes are compatible, it's the 9, 10, and 11 sprocket rear clusters that need different accompanying components.

I've fitted them on loads of bikes that originally had 8 amd 9 speeds. I never had a problem. In the worst case, you have to do two clicks on one or two of the middle gears and/or the occasional click back when you change.

Will my cassette removal tool work on the shimano freewheel too of will I need a new removal tool?
All the ones I find on ebay look too similar to guess.
