Does anyone know how to identify Shimano Acera derailleurs?

I have damaged my Acera gears and need to get a new one, but, even though it says Acera on it, there is no number such as M360 or RDM360SGSS and other numbers that I find when looking on internet.

I think that is the one, the problem is that there are a number of Acera mechanisms and even the Shimano site does not explain the differences or how to identify them.

They will all do the same thing but don't mix Sram mech's with Shimano changers and vice versa as they won't work. Also select one for your gearing ie; 7,8,9 etc, measure the cage to get an idea to whether you need a short, med or long cage. I had an Acera similar and upgraded to the XT range which is a better mech with slicker adjustment.
Fleabay is a good source for some good used components esp if you want to upgrade, I rececently got a Sram 9sp cassette, 9sp chain and a XT mech for £30, the mech a lone new is near £40.

Have you tried asking Phil at Powerpedals?

google Shimano M360 manual pdf

RD-M360SSGS is the same as Shimano M360 Acera RD-M360s(SGS)
RD: rear drive
M: Mechanism
RD-M360 is the model
S: silver
SGS: superglide system

SRAM's twistgrip changers are Shimano compatible and are sold as such. I have the SRAM changer and Shimano's Acera rear mech on my current bike and also had that combo on my previous bike.

Thanks everybody. I have ordered the mechanism shown above.
Interestingly, my Tonaro has Shimano gears and a SRAM 8 gear gripshifter on the left hand side.

Thanks Flecc an error on my side as I hadn't made it clear and was referring to quick shift type gear changers and not the twist grip/ grip shifters.

Understood Neal, those are indeed not cross compatible as you said.
