This is a shame because Israel is probably a great place to see by ebike. They have beautiful flat cycle paths all the way through the desert roads, created quickly apparently by unrolling long belts of some two-inch thick material probably made with recycled car tyres, next to the asphalt road. I imagine the new riding theory test is in Hebrew. https://www.timesofisrael.com/new-drivers-license-instituted-for-electric-bicycles/

Talka about irrational, all the following new laws and penalties for e-bike riders because a drunk driver killed a teenager riding one. Surely the wrong target, how can this lot defend anyone against a drunk driver?

Little wonder they can't reach a peaceful settlement with the Palestinians when they have such muddled thought processes:

"The new electric bicycle rules announced in October imposed harsher fines on violators. Those caught riding a bicycle without a helmet now have to cough up NIS 1,000 ($268).

Fines of various amounts were introduced for previously unlisted violations, such as transporting another rider, cycling while drunk, or using a cellphone, as well as for riding through a red light.

Cyclists are also now required to wear safety vests at night.

The new measures were instituted after a teenager was killed in September by a drunk driver in Tel Aviv while riding on his friend’s bike, an incident that drew attention to growing safety concerns over electric bicycles."

I would have thought the growing safety concerns would be over people drinking and driving!

They "can't reach a peaceful settlement" with the Palestinians because after stealing their country they are now hell bent on the total genocide of them.... Which road system would you use to see "Israel" - the ones Israelis use that are amazing and unrestricted or the back country roads with endless "checkpoints" the Palestinians are forced to endure every day? Folk dying because their hospital is ten checkpoints away....different coloured licence plates....The most racist apartheid system of control ever....

Ah. Yes you're right that perhaps nobody can protect against a drink driver. In terms of irrational thought making it hard to achieve piece, Israel has been in the grip of right-wing parties since Peres. God willing that will change if Benny Gantz gets elected over the next week. But they do a lot of policy there in ways that I think is more rational than us in older larger countries. Yes so the quantity of ebiker risk the Knesset is preventing, is one we would permit in the UK.

But in defence of Israel I think you're missing a couple of bits of context. Firstly you just have to go to Tel Aviv to see young teens racing around at high speeds everywhere at all hours. It is surreal by any city's standards.

Targeting one risk (drink driving) doesn't mean one shouldn't or can't also target another.

Israel is not a UK-style laissez-faire society when it comes to safety: for example, every car has an alarm which goes off if you tailgate, or appear to be crossing lanes bc eg falling asleep. All of the safety requirements for e-cyclists have a strong logical connection with a safety purpose, bearing in mind the quantity of risk Israelis want to allow people to subject themselves to.

With regard to the driving theory test, it is possible that it is conducted in Hebrew, since Hebrew is the official language of Israel. However, Israel is a multi-ethnic country and there are also Arabic-speaking communities, so it is possible that tests may be conducted in more than one language to accommodate the linguistic diversity of the population. By the way this can play a good role for https://drunkid.com/buy/colorado-fake-id/ driver's license because things change. For accurate and up-to-date information on the languages in which tests are offered, you should contact the local authorities or agencies responsible for administering such tests.

Perhaps the UU could learn some lessons on safety
