Unbelievable! It's necessary though to protect those owners who not only would use the lead to plug the kettle in, but after they've been out in the rain, would think nothing of drying their pets off in the microwave -

Hey - shut up it's not my cat.

And no, that doesn't mean it's next door's cat either.

No, no, no noooo, what I mean is - it's off the Internet. (The photo that is).

- And it's still not my cat!

Since last year the Wisper connecting lead has one of the pins in a different plane so you can't plug 240V into the battery, the charging lead is completely different as well so no confusion there.

I read somewhere that Powacycle encountered this on their first prototypes from China some years ago ; and they immediately had the battery design changed - hence todays batteries having the sort of connector you would use for the mic off a HF/VHF transceiver. I expect anyone actually riding around with such a radio fixed to their bike would be clued up enough not to get their connectors mixed up :D)

There's two popular battery connectors other than these IEC clones. There's the NTC mic type that Urban Mover and Powacycle use, that one most common in the Far East now and not so easily available here. The other is the similar but a bit larger XLR connector like that on eZee bikes. Both are a bit fiddly to grip for plugging and out which possibly prompted the use of the larger IEC types.

Panasonic typically did their own thing on their original unit and used a non-standard 7 pin DIN connector, but now on the latest unit inconveniently plug the battery directly onto the charger in electric tools fashion. Both their methods prevent charging with the battery on the bike.

It was sold to me as a number 52 dish but I don't think it was prepared properly.
So what did it taste like?

When I was a kid, my father came home from work and accidentally ate a tin of Kit-E-Kat. When my mother returned from an errand she couldn't find the cat's food and discovering the empty tin, she quizzed everybody in the household until she found my father behind a newspaper. He said he had no idea it was cat food and had enjoyed it thoroughly - euwwwwwww!

The cat looked right put-out!

Hi Bigbee

We are taking this very seriously hence changing the connector last year and again changing the whole connection system this.

Whilst in Germany at IFMA last your I met the guys from EnergyBus what they are attempting to do makes perfect sense and we will certainly supporting them.

Regards David

PS I thought the cat jokes were purrfect

PPS I hope that this is just the catalyst we need to avoid a catastophe.

Still, it does remind me of the early days of electric guitars. Quite a few of the early buyers didn't realise you needed to buy an amp too, so took them back to the shop complaining they'd been given the wrong lead Of course some just cut the jack plug off and fitted a mains plug.... They got a quite different sound out of it from what they expected when they plugged in  .

Also reminds me of the 'do not use in the shower' stickers often found on the leads of hairdryers in many UK hotels.....I s'pose some bright spark :)rolleyes: ) might try it!
