Just caught this on a local coastal blog

East of England Electric Bicycle Rally at Great Yarmouth
The first Saturday of May sees the Sea Life Centre Gardens hosting the inaugural East of England Electric Bicycle Rally.

Major electric bicycle manufacturers will be on site to talk to visitors about their latest models and the development of Electric bicycles.

Visitors will also be encouraged to test ride the bicycles along the ‘Broadway’ - the purpose built seafront Landau and cycle lane.

It doesn't say how many major manufacturers will be there. I suppose it could be two. Presumably none of our usual culprits will be there otherwise they would have reported it here. I'm going to pencil it in my diary and see how things develop. Good find Covehithe.

Judging from the bike illustrated, either 50cycles, Raleigh or Spencer-Ivy should be there.

Yes, I had them in mind and meant to put them in as well Eddie, corrected that now. Lloyd doesn't usually miss these opportunities.

If you screw your eyes up and squint the illustrated bike looks to me like it has the Raleigh badge.

This venue might catch the day tripper or someone who lives in East Anglia, but the location for most people is even more out of the way than Presteigne.
I'm actually quite sad that Presteigne is not going to happen this year:( or am I just sad:confused:

KudosCycles will be there-are we one of the normal culprits? We will be supporting our local dealer, namely Velo Cycles of Norwich,we will have all of our current range plus some test bikes. Also we should have 2 new models by then-Secret is a 17kg folder with a transport bag ideal for carry-on train or upstairs. Safari is an easy step through with only 2 frame sizes to cover 4'10" to 6'2",particularly ideal for a small lady,it will be very user friendly and low maintenance-ideal for the hire industry.
I didn't announce the show because it seemed a bit too early but glad to meet as many as can make it-always nice to meet forum members in person.

Are there any other shows that you're keeping secret?

Dave....no secrets intended.....we are on Stingray RV's stand at the Peterborough Motorhome show,April 26-29. The Kent County Show,July 15. Perhaps the East of England electric bike rally could grow into something bigger, its a good time of the year for an outside e-bike show.

I had a hard time looking for a folder easy to carry on the train, as electric bikes are particularly heavy and using a simple "bag" to carry them (such as the Dahon bags) are far from ideal. At 10+ kg it's just too hard to carry a bike on a "shoulder bag". It is already heavy with a normal bike, with an electric bike it becomes a challenge.

I tried to carry my 26 inch folder (of 24kg) on a bag when I came back to France and it was like carrying my house with me. I litterally had to use a trolley to be able to move it:

It was so though that I decided to change to a smaller folder I can roll once folded.

So I'm quite interested to see what makes the new folder easy to carry on the trains and stairs apart from the weight. Even at 17kg (which is super good for an ebike) I believe it's too heavy to be carried on the shoulders in the train station.

Mr Kudos, you need to come to http://www.thescottishbikeshow.com/

I'm getting lonely up here, I never see another E-bike. ;)

Jim,I will look into the cost of exhibiting at the Scottish Bike Show....one problem with UK venues is the expense the organisers have to cover to hire the exhibition halls....the worst offender is the NEC,Birmingham-this has to be the most expensive venue anywhere in Europe to organise an exhibition. Quite frankly the e-bike market in the UK is so small that it is difficult to justify the high cost of exhibitions such as the NEC cycle show-for sports cyclists their market is so much larger so the costs can be more easily integrated into their marketing budget. I have discussed a seperate pavilion with the organisers to be restricted only to e-bikes,at a reduced cost, awaiting their response.

I was only joking- as you probably figured out.

It's a shame they don't hold the East of England show in Peterborough, which would be a bit more accessible. Anyway, Ihope to see you there.
