On the subject of rear triangles, I'm told the bridge on which the brake calliper is mounted can be prone to rust. Worth keeping it clean and lubing it occasionally.
An advantage of owning a Brompton Titanium :p

You are right though, on my stock Brompton I have had to touchup/paint this part where some paint flaked off.

These people are a great source for Brompton parts

Brompton rear sprockets and spacers - Brilliant Bikes

They stock pretty much every part and provide fast free delivery. I have used them a lot. Its not hard to maintain a Brompton. The sprocket is simple to remove, plenty of how-to vids on line.

Thanks for all the advice.... I'm going to get the sprocket off today and see which one I need. I would never take the bike to a dealer, everything has been very easy so far to swap out and Brilliant Bikes are an amazing company with fast, free delivery on all parts.

I have to say that I am utterly amazed at the strength of the Brompton. The roads I ride are full of potholes and I regularly crash through them when it's unavoidable. Thousands of miles in under a year, daily high mileage through all the winter crud, rain, ice and London grime with a heavy direct drive motor bolted onto tiny front forks, a huge and heavy 700Wh battery on the luggage block....on and off trains, in and out of car boots....etc etc... I can't imagine many other bikes being able to take this punishment.

I'm tempted to contact Brompton to let them know how well their bike is doing, thought they may be interested (even though in their eyes I've probably committed sacrilege with the their little light weight machine :p )

If you do contact Brompton, as them when or if - their electric Brompton is going to see the light of day.

Brompton invited me to down to their factory to see my super light Brompton with the new light Goldant motor when they were still developing their e solution. I was set to visit, tour their factory and speak with the designers of the eBrompton but then their project got derailed and they cancelled my visit :(

All very disappointing.

I doubt we will see the Brompton E solution for at least a year or two.

Thought I'd resurrect this old thread, I have now passed 7500 miles on the Brompton and still going strong, looks and rides as new!

I'm wondering what will give out first; the Crystalyte motor still hums along silently, as it's direct drive I wonder what the expected mileage of the bearings is? Car wheel bearings are good for tens of thousands but I doubt that Crystalyte use components of that quality.
