Yes, bad news and it applies to all the lithium battery cars to some degree, not just the Tesla with it's over 6000 small cells.

Just like our e-bike batteries which have to recharged at least every three months and preferably at two monthly intervals, the Tesla's always on electronics drain more greedily than our BMS circuits and the battery needs much more frequent charging.

As I posted recently about e-cars in general, they have a long way to go to be really acceptable and I think the current launches are very premature. There will be plenty more tears over the next few years.

Errr no, as it still forms by far the biggest % part cost of the bike and is still the achilles heel to widespread take up

I think that electric bikes are now reasonably well established. One huge advantage they have over a car is that they don't actually take much electricity to recharge, the batteries are portable and can be taken indoors.
In the boating world, there have been small 12 volt trolling motors for ages. As weight is little problem (even an advantage) in a boat, lead acid is the preferred storage system. However over the past few years, new, powerful, electric outboards have become available and are becoming popular. They use LiPo batteries. As usual, range is a problem and unless you can row the boat, potentially dangerous, compared to petrol-------you can always carry a spare can of fuel.

Mike....that looks like the end of electric cars,if they ever started...if they used LifePo4 the 'brick' problem would have been overcome,but you would need a 7.5 ton licence to drive the Tesla!!!!!!
