Getting a mxus xf07 to fit an older bike

Is it OK to dispense with the axle (spacer?) nut as shown in photo below.xf07.jpg
The reason I ask is because I am thinking of fitting a mxus xf07 front hub to an older bike with steel forks but it is a tight squeeze. The bike has V brakes and it would be a more comfortable fit (no need to spring forks wider) if I dispensed with the 6 disk brake screws and spacer and also the axle (spacer?) nut. The wheel would need a little re-dishing (reduction of offset)

The nut is there for a reason rather then a spacer nut it will helping to keep a bearing/ seal or the like in place and to prevent lateral axle movement.

The XF07 is made for 100mm dropout.
If the wheel does not go in, take some pictures of the arrangement of the washers first before removing and re-arranging the position of the anti-torque washers (the one with a thick tongue, the tongue must always go into the opening of the jaws).
