There seem to be a few bikes like this coming on to the market, the 24v Dawes springs to mind. It will be interesting to see what people think and how they perform as they do seem pretty good value for money

Hi.
I looked at these bikes a year ago particularly the stepthrough. Does anyone know the weights? I've tried ChainReaction however with no success so far.

Being Dutch it's quite likely to be on the heavy side, although their quality is good they never seem to worry about weight in their largely flat territory. The Konaworld web site has a highly detailed and very full specification linked to below but excluding the weight, possibly bearing that out:

Kona in, The Netherlands, tell me that the stepthrough 45cm weighs 17kg with the battery an additional 5kg. I find the weight given for the bike very difficult to believe!

Even if true the only stepthrough that Chainreaction has is the 55cm which for my wife, at 5 foot 5 is just too big. Pity. I am still trying to verify that weight!

Neither of those weights sounds correct Vectra. I agree the bike looks far heavier, but I cannot believe that 24 volt battery weighs 5 kilos. Around 3 kilos would be more typical.

Although that quoted weight does seem remarkably heavy, even then the bike would only have an all-up weight of around 22Kgs, not unduly heavy for a Dutch bike.

I suspect the bike would be competitive for mileage and hill-climbing ability but I can't really see it providing class-leading performance from that spec. It's not a bad price, in my view, for a Dutch bike with most of the accoutrements and furniture one would expect on board. If it rides in similar fashion to most Dutch bikes, it should be comfortable and very stable although it will probably require a fair bit of pedal power on steeper slopes. Those who prefer to do no work at all on hills need not apply!

All conjecture on my part, I grant you as I haven't ridden one but I'd love someone to prove me wrong as I think it's quite a nice bike with a fair price tag.

Actual weight of Kona Token Girl 45cm is 17.8 kg plus battery.

As weighed. Seems an excellent combination of weight, price, range and finish. Now if only the 45cm was in the sale. Seems they are all 50cm.
