Anyone know if this bike is fully waterproof?
Would it stand up to light pressure washing, after a blast in the dirt?

I would PM E Tim as he has 2 and off roads all the time..but not on here much. I never had to jet was ours so dont really know. the motor (bosch side) is a sealed unit so only the battery/terminals I would think need protecting and avoiding

nice bike. but check that in stock before you pays up, as one member has been done up like a kipper already...

Fordulike,

The Bosch units are sealed. But I wouldn’t use a pressure washer on any electric bike (or electrical product for that matter) - shaft seals are flexible and could be 'turned over' by inadvertent blast of high pressure water. We use one of those big garden weed-killer sprayer thingies. They are great for the job and you can add a drop of detergent to the mix too.

Rgds,

James

He ordered a Trekking Haibike. We had his size in stock and could have delivered that week. We spoke on the phone about his order and it transpired he preffered to wait until the latest model arrived (production scheduled for June).

What’s the difference between the two models I hear you thinking... they are identical but for change from TEKTRO Orlans to TEKTRO Draco brakes.

What’s the difference between the two hydraulic brake systems? ...the new one has silver master and slave cylinders and the old one has blue. The old one has a very nice anodised knurled knob allowing the lever position to be adjusted to the riders liking; the new one doesn’t.

No James, you phoned me and offered an ex demo bike with a suitable discount. I declined your offer because I wanted a brand new bike with a fresh battery.!!

At the time I placed my order in early March, you did not have any new 48cm Trekking models in stock. I therefore told you I would happily wait for the next allocation to arrive.

Is it so surprising I began to worry about the £2,200 I had already paid when I heard nothing from you for fifteen weeks! And only then after I voiced my concerns with Haibike customer services in Germany.

Believe it or not, I'm not bothered about how long I have waited to take ownership. The Haibike Trekking has certain unique features which I was very interested in. Even if I had an extra candle on my cake by the time it arrived, I would still not have cancelled the order.

Haibike's protective marketing favouring their homeland retailers is understandable, your reluctance to communicate with paying customers is not.

Regards.

People like you are probably agents for Amazon, who avoid this kind of hassle by never speaking to their customers.

Light blue touch-paper and stand well back

This thread has been derailed, any chance of getting it back on track?

Good idea! Those with the Panasonic units can use a pressure washer since it doesn't use soft bearing seals that can be deflected or distorted and the cable entries are very tightly sealed. I don't know if the Bosch, Impulse and Daum units are the same in this respect but I'd guess they are probably just as safe since the the same type of integrated seal bearing is the sensible choice rather than separate flexible seals. The latter would make a unit wider which is an unlikely choice for a designer.
