I should state first that I dont know, i can only guess

They used to stock Urban Mover which I belive got into financial troubles and got bought by Hero

Perhaps this corporate action invalidated the contracts between UM and Halfords and they took the opportunity to try and get better terms with other suplpiers (ie better margins and SLA for same cost). Could be a myriad of other reasons mind

These are solex bikes and EBCO only signed import deal for solex bikes (french i think) this Feb

maybe others know more

Hi Both,

We (as Ultra Motor) decided for business reasons to discontinue distributing the Urban Mover brand early last year. As such Halfords stopped purchasing these models.

Halfords are still (to be knowledge) deciding what bikes they wish to sell from here on in.

For current customers, Halfords have a dedicated service centre with parts, so no need to worry.

Thanks
Mark

Do you know if batteries are still available and how much they cost, for a UM44SL?

Halfords switch all the time, they clearly haven't made up their mind about e-bikes. They started with the Carrera Sparc exclusive but made a real mess of handling that. Urban Mover followed and now it's EBCO. Since all this has happened within two years, it's not a supplier I'd be happy to buy from since ongoing support is likely to be lacking to say the least.
