Help with kt controller

As you know I orderd my kt controller with kt display from psw recommended by a forum member as I wonterd different pedal assist levels 2 problems I've got is 1 I don't have to use the hall senser still works but no mph out put ftom the display and 2 still getting full pedel assist from 1 to 5 is there a wrong or right way as it's working does it matter iam not riding the bike just holding up the back wheel or have I wasted money again I thought the KT kit was ok

Why haven't you connected the hall sensors? It won't be as good without them. To see a speed, you have to have a speed sensor and have it set correctly in the settings. Download the manual for the LCD and go though all the settings.

Not got a hall sensor on the controller mate not a problem will get a speed sensor but still pedal assist needs sorting

Make sure P3 is set at value 1 and go out and ride the bike under load.

The KT's are one of the best (if not the best) after market set up's to buy I have had them on several bikes and all have worked as they should. Each PAS level offering more current as one goes up the five PAS levels. The speed in each level remains the same depending on the speed setting set in the display, each PAS level giving an increase in power delivered. Noticeable by either acceleration on flat terrain or power felt when climbing inclines, it is only under rider /loading that you will see how the system works using PAS.

I predominantly use only PAS 1 on my bikes so when I use higher PAS for inclines then the extra power is very noticeable, even the difference between PAS 1(13 %) & 2 (20%) is very noticeable to me.

Thanks for the reply mate will try it tonight if not the weekend my old 500w wheel kit worked fine but sold it on upgraded to the 1500w kit but the controller was not good enough because I need the controller with matching sw900 display so buyed a matching set still no good so now I've got the kt set

The power is dependant on the controller current and battery being able to deliver that power.
Which KT controller did you buy and what battery are you using ?

This is the kt controller
KT36/48WSRLH-35A 12 Mosfet with out hall senser
My battery is 52v 20ah 40amp bms

The only one that affects PAS power is C14, which you have set to medium. I'm not sure if that setting affects the ramping up of the power or the total power. Either way, try turning it up to maximum (4?) and see if it makes a difference. Please let us Know.

Your only unusual setting is P5=0, which makes the battery display jump up and down instantly. Normal would be a value of about 18 to make it behave more like a fuel gauge,

It's more noticeable with the torque

You have C3 as 8? C3 sets the PAS level on power-up. The Dillinger LCD manual has a funny note .. "The setting range for the C3 parameters are 0-8 (0-5 are only used)/ Production errors produced additional settings of 6-8."

I believe setting C4 =3 with P4=0 gives you always on throttle, but I'm too lazy to go check my bike.

You have C5=10 for max current. Most owners do the same.

Thanks for your help guys I've tried all settings now so I going back to my old controller and leave the pedal assist disconnected as I get more power

C3 = n, where n is less than 6 is the PAS level that the LCD shows when you switch on. C3=8 means that it will come on at the same level you were on when you switched off.

Thanks vfr400 for the tip about C14. In my case, I changed the value to C14=3, and it increased the pas levels (approx) from 60/100/160/245/425 to 80/140/220/300/425. It doesen't seem to effect the PAS5 (maximun power)setting but I think it improves, especially with pas 4, which previously only outputted 245w and left a large gap between pas 4 and pas 5.

That's very low. You should get more than double that with a 20 amp controller. Have a play with the C5 setting. Try 9 and see if it'll accept a value over 10. If all else fails, you can always solder the shunt.
