Hi everyone a nice snowy day to be out on a powatryke in Wales today. I am new to this forum and hope to be of use to people and get help from it to. I live in Wales and am just getting into battery bikes my partner has a powatryke 5speed low step thru model not sure of year and I have converted an old 6 speed p/byke euro to a tricycle with a1950,s Higgs conversion put some 24" rims on the hubs and away need to sort a back brake now:confused:

The question I know here is the wrong place for it but I assume I do not have enough posts to acess the tech page.(I have not had time to read the rules and regs yet)

My partners powatryke was going fine into town 3 miles approx I then stopped at friends for 10 min went up and down there road in the snow pulled over to avoid numpty trying to reverse into me went to pull away no power switched on off a few time incase overload sensor had cut in. after a few miles still nowt all lights on then gave controler gentle tap as in gentle and not hammered on top and it felt like the throttle had just cut in very partially and this stayed like it for the next couple miles sometimes had to tap the control box if I shut the throtle down. The batt lights stayed on and did not dim at all when throttle worked a little bit. Maybe just a glitch due to the weather or do the controllers fill with water any drain holes. bike ok till today no problem All leads and wires connected and insulation ok, any ideas Frank if you on here or anyone else.
Help greatly appreciated as it was her birthday present and not yet ridden it and I like various parts of my anatomny and dont want to end up with a high pitched voice:eek:
many thanks

Hi Fatts, this is the right place for your query, the tech section is meant for more permanent items for reference.

This problem sounds like either damp or a poor connection, the latter possibly caused by metal contraction in the cold. I'd opt for the drying out first though. Normally I recommend bringing a bike into a room with a fan heater and if available, a dehumidifier, which speeds up the drying process, but that may not be possible with a trike.

It's probably also worth checking by re-plugging all the accessible connections while doing the drying out though.

Hi Fleec,

thanks for that, bringing it in will be a no no:eek: but thought a good dry out would help as I know what road salts like on electric normaly.I will check out control pod and dry it out can unscrew that and take indoors.Did I read in a post today that Frank Currans in China or is that another Frank as I ws going to call him tomorrow will re check connections as well
Oh well back to researching hub kits or complete bikes to buy for some friends theres a lot out there and they cant afford the Heinzmann.
