Only because it's geared for that assist speed, it isn't extra powerful, still complying with the 250 watts regulation and using the same motor as the ordinary Pro Connect. It's just made to work harder.I thought the pro connect S class "with top speed of 25mph" was illegal in the UK for street use![]()
And in reality I travel at betweeen 17 and 22mph most of my commute- just old and fatSimon's bike has a 250 watt motor rated at 400 watts peak and Harry compares to the 250 watt Tongxin at a bit over 400 watts peak so the comparisons were valid, they weren't against illegal bikes. The 905 series has over 500 watts peak from it's SB motor so it seems the Dapush has less. Maybe the new controller promised will correct that.

In restricted mode I certainly agree, unrestricted I don't think it's less powerful but it's certainly different. I think it's a sensorless motor and it doesn't run well below walking speed, however my average speed has increased noticably and it's not just because the bike design is faster. I also notice the battery drain more so it seems to draw more power than the SB motor. You're the third person I've seen to say this about the low power, seems it's not at the Suzhou Bafang level in this respect.

David just has to take the award for customer responsiveness. I'm not a Wisper customer but he could persuade anyone with this level of attention to feedback.Hi Flecc
Yes I agree the bike is a little underpowered with the 14.5A controller, we were going for a very light weight motor and high range. However since the one or two comments here we have tested the 16.5A controller and this will be fitted to all new models from now. It makes a huge difference but of course does decrease range a bit.
16.5A controller upgrades are available supplied and fitted FOC to all Alpino and 906xc customers, they are in stock now so if anyone would like to soup up their 906, or 706 drop me a line at dmiall@me.com and I will make arrangements.
All the best
David
