I was riding my bike earlier (on my way back from delivering some post) and went down a curb a bit too hard, the shock of it shook my handlebar bag (which holds my battery and controller - approx 2.2kg) right up over the handlebar and then the weight as it fell back down tore it from the straps...resulting in my bag hanging down by the front-wheel with me still moving along! Amazingly it stayed connected (all those DIN connectors) and I was able to limp home under throttle with the bag resting on my knees. The velcro straps were still firmly attached to the handlebar :D..incredibly strong stuff that is.

Probably this wouldn't of happened if I had secured the bag around the handlebar stem instead of just the handlebar.. I'm just glad this happened while I was on a quiet road and not going too fast! Not to worry, I have a spare bag they are only cheap and I will make the necessary improvements to this one ;-)

I know by personal experience that this is the best way to learn a lesson.

I am sure you will not be banging down any kerbs in the near future. :D

Wish I had Alan, I'm unscathed tho and no damage was done to my kit thankfully! I think the lesson learned here is... "even if it seems totally secure and strong...expect the unexpected..and go that bit further" ;)
