Is it possible to add a 'twist and go' throttle to an Izip?

Hi all

My bike is an ZIP DOWNTOWN FOLDER (see pic)

izip.jpg

DRIVE: Rear 'Currie' hub motor
CONTROLLER: Currie handlebar control unit with torque adjuster and battery gauge

I miss the 'twist and go' throttle that was on the trike I had, and wondered if it was possible to add the same to this bike?

Thanks Tara

I guess you need some info on the controller or to examine it to see if it has the necessary connector or pin-outs for a throttle? Assuming it has, you can easily buy a cheap throttle to plug in... I think they're pretty much standard devices but might be wrong on that and could be some variation with specific controllers..I'm sure one of the more technically knowledgeable can advise better.

Thank you - I'll mail them and ask, as I have a feeling that the model is sometimes sold under different names, and one of the throttles they do have, may be a universal type for certain bikes anyway.

Hi Tara,

I'd be lost without mine. When I first got my bike I never used it and preferred PAS...but then I switched over and now I rarely use PAS. I think throttle offers more flexibility and the ability to stop and start quicker and more safely...but it does tend to make me lazy and pedal less :p Saying that I have a bad knee which is really messed up and needs surgery so I'm not as able as I used to be.
