It had to happen at some time. The sun was shining and I was enjoying the commute into work off road without a care in the world when a well kitted out Lycra Cyclist on a nice fast looking bike overtook me while I was in medium assist travelling about 23mph
Intrigued I just kept behind him even though I had to slow down. After a mile and a half we both slowed down to turn into the park and another first, the Lycra Clad lad started speaking to me. He said he experienced a strange affect when he tried to overtake me that he had never experienced before with any other cyclist and he was a bit confused why he had never been able to get passed.
The strange affect was that his speed increased from 20mph to about 23mph when he was in my slip stream. He found it very heavy going when he pulled in front of me and I was in his jet stream. He had not noticed the battery or the motor on the ProConnect S.
When I told him it was a pedelec he was very inpressed with the bike because it was the only bike that streched his normally fast pace. I commented about the other advantages and he had to agree he was sweating while I was still fresh.
I have now seen ten electric bikes while out and about, but once the word gets round the Lycra Brigade that the fastest bike in town is a Kalkhoff, I can bet that I will come across many more in the next couple of years.
