To choose...
Hi,
I,m new on this forum, from Norway and has also been on the web for a while looking for reviews on e-bikes. Here in Norway the marked are practically non-existent. But I know some are sold e.g. Wisper and Kalkhoff. I want to commute to work on a more regular basis and have some climbing on my way home.
I have tried the Wisper, but I did not like the brakes and the quick/sudden activating on the motor. It seems a bit simple to me, but this is only my personal view. My criteria were hydraulic disc brake, fixed fork, center drive and generally high quality bike. Keep in mind that an electric bike is heavy and you should pay attention to quality brakes!
If you choose damper fork you should keep in mind that the damper require service every 2 – 3 year in order to work properly. I do a lot of biking on my free time on gravel road, now with a fixed fork, and do not miss the damper. And I do the downhill fast… But of course – with /without damper is a matter of taste I believe.
I have read a lot of reviews here on the forum and other places. I now look forward to drive to Germany and pick up my already ordered Kalkhoff Sahel Pro C, with some extra sprockets (in order to be flexible with the ratio). The Norwegian dealer just has some few stepthrough Kalkoff bikes and not with the brake I want. The Norwegian dealer was also a bit unwilling to offer a price on other models that he have in the store. So - Germany next!
I still save a lot of money by order it in Germany and pick it up myself – and an Easter vacation at the same time…
Kalkoff also have a lots of e-bike models in their range and I’m quite sure they will be around for several years. A bit high price, but you get quality. In the long term I’m sure this will pay off.
Sorry for possible bad English here…
