My Evans is the main store/head office warehosue at Gatwick and I find them not very helpful at times, I very rarely use them at all.

Thanks Nealh. Whilst I'm glad it's not just me, I'm sorry that they've been like this with someone else too.
It really put me off.

SFMW,
This is the problem with the major retailers like Evans Halfords etc. The service is so impersonal. The customer is just another punter wandering into the store.
If you can find a decent local bike shop and establish a good relationship, then you are doing well.

Review of Pulse ZL-2:
https://ebiketips.road.cc/content/reviews/electric-city-bikes/first-ride-pulse-zl-2-455

New one here at £300 plus:
https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/pulse-zl2-loop-frame-electric-bike-Medium-26-wheel-blue/264212165894?hash=item3d8445b506:g:ZOUAAOSwS3lcUYvk:rk:1:pf:1&frcectupt=true

I still think the FreeGos (Wren, Hawk and Eagle) are better made bikes than the Pulse.

John from Yorkshire picked up a used bargain and he is delighted with it:
https://www.pedelecs.co.uk/forum/threads/thought-id-best-say-hello-john-south-yorkshire.32588/#post-458763

The Woosh Santa 2 is also a decent ebike at £899 (11ah) or £949 (13ah):

http://wooshbikes.co.uk/?santana2

Woosh return conditions:

http://wooshbikes.co.uk/?salesconditions

That brand new FreeGo Wren at £400 is a steal bearing in mind that the same bike is advertised at £700 elsewhere.

£400:

OR
£700:

To put things in perpective, bidding is already at £336 on a used Wren and there is still 3 days to go:

Dewey,
I am afraid that Apollo bikes have a poor reputation for reliability and using cheap components.

Hi, take a look at my last couple of threads, I think we are in similar situations! I've been wavering around between Woosh Crusa, Santana, Kudos Milano, Regency... and now Eagle has thrown Freego Wrens into the mix too. There's only so much research one menopausal brain can take so I'm going to try some (as wisely recommended here). I must try not to be too swayed by a nice colour and wicker basket :)

Thanks everybody for your replies and help!! I was expecting this level of support. I really appreciate it, especially as I seem to be prevaricating so.

Eagle, I have looked again at the FreeGo's but it really worries me that they are no longer in business. Purely because if I have a problem, I won't know where to turn. So I have ruled them out.

I like the Woosh bikes and I really like the Kudos bikes. I think I need to find a new plan (can you tell that I like a plan) and if I am in an area at some point, then I will go and hopefully take a test ride on one of them. Although, I was really hoping to get this sorted sooner rather than later.

Dewey, that place in Northampton is somewhere I just might go and check out. Thank you. I wonder if anyone has one of these bikes and can say if they are a good buy?

Mandy. I've read your threads! They were really helpful, thanks. Seems like we are almost looking for the same thing. Your reply made me laugh as it was a bit like replying to myself, re the menopausal brain and not being swayed by a nice colour and a basket. That's me all over!! I wonder if we can find a 2-4-1 deal anywhere? I know, in my dreams.

Thank you everybody. Hope you all have a good weekend.

Funny you should say that, I think Kudos do something very similar... 2 for under a thousand pounds. Maybe we should start our own business to help confused ladies of a certain age to find a bike! I'd definitely employ Eagle as chief research tzar!

On Kudos's web site there are some bikes on 2-4 -1, the Sonata for instance has the superb Bafang rear CST hub. Though looking at the battery looks like it utilises Samsung 26F cells or a derivative and they are quite poor ones, though you will get a couple of years good use out if them before they loose capacity/range. Hilly Brighton terrain may age them quicker.
At 23kg it is a good weight for a bike like this.

Mandy & SFMW,
I fully understand your reluctance to buy a FreeGo, even a brand new one since the company has gone bust. I was just trying to save you some dosh.
With Woosh's good reputation on these forums for decent quality/value for money and above all, excellent customer service/support, I would be inclined to look no further.

Good luck with your searches.

Thanks Eagle for your tireless efforts! I wouldn't rule out Freego personally but Woosh definitely seem like a great company.

Freego has more or less been taken over by E-bikesdirect, who have all the spares and left over stock. They offer 12 months warranty on the Freego bikes they sell, which are very discounted. They have an excellent returns service if you need any warranty work.

All the parts on a Freego are standard and modular, so even if you can't get an OEM part, there are plenty of cheap equivalent parts., so spare parts should never be a problem

Searching this forum for “pro rider” there are a few members with their bikes, while I could not see any with the Connect model they might provide more info about the ownership experience, support, things like that.
The Pro Rider Leisure Facebook page looks like it is just used for marketing.

Mandy, maybe the 2-4-1 on the Kudos website is the way to go? Thanks for the suggestion Nealh. Is there another suggestion you can make that would give a life longer than 2 years though? For me that's a lot of money to invest for not much bike life (Is that a term)?

Thanks for all the other replies and suggestions!

PS. Mandy, I like your suggestion of setting up a business for women of a certain age after an electric bike. Dragons Den, here we come!

Hi,
I'm happy to share if we can agree on a model, seems like a good way to get a well priced bike! And I certainly know from my exhaustive researching that Bafung motors are very good and that Kudos is a very reputable and respected company. I think we also have quite similar tastes and requirements.
Deborah Meadon would so go for it!

Nealh was saying the Samsung 26F cells may only last a couple of years but you would be saving £350 - split transport costs of the other bike. All there other Dutch inspired bikes on the 241 are very heavy 29.6kg using lifepo4 . Verona maybe;)
