Hi Guys,
Got my Juicybike and just done my first proper bike ride. Not done a proper bike ride on any bike for about 15 years.
Delivery time.
I was surprised when it had to be shipped to a local bike shop and they had to assemble. That it was ready for collection in a day and half. Thats some going.
Issues
very minor.
Back light a little dim for my liking. but its a freebie on the bike. going to add another. Front mud guard twisted a little and rubbing on the tire. but thats the assembly bike shop fault not juicybike and i will straighten that today.
piston seat. Makes it a little high for my short legs. But i can swop that out easy
All in all the issue list is so laughable its not worth mentioning.
First ride
Distance covered 10 miles.
Now I mention this as I am sure some of us more heavier people may be thinking of an ebike but unsure that it will handle there weight. Im 17 stone and I am unfit. So, for the bike to assist me getting that distance while letting me do some of the work, is frankly fab. Went up the penine way track. I live at one end of it. It was uphill all the way on a slight but noticable incline.
So, for peoples information bearing in mind my weight. on th 10ah battery and the juicybike motor being 250w, on the flat I was hitting between 15 and 16mph according to the speedo.
In pedelec mode was hitting 12mph, but of course if you need a quick burst of speed for any reason a quick flip of the throttle whizzies you up. In fact the quick squirt of juice from the throttle is a great way to zip off at junctions!
When I came to a incline i was getting between 10.5 and 14mph. In fact on the way back home found a nice incline, decided to give it a good test of the motor. and did 3 mins on throttle only (ie no peddling) and found i was travelling at about 13mph.
All in all absolutely chuffed to bits. All I can say is Wheeeee!!!
After 10miles. The battery lights are all still on. More importantly I had a nice little workout, and the unfit me, got back home without being too knacked for work.
Showed me brother the bike and he now thinking of an electric bike to. Worked out it will save him £9 a day in bus fares to his college course (£27) a week. So an ebike would pay for itself in no time.
What I realised being a new rider, is that I need to sort some gloves. in the country side its very exposed, summer gone and I need to get soem cover. Also after 10 miles my hands where feeling the vibration. So i think i need a little padding in the gloves to ease that off a bit.
So, in brief words its a lot of fun. Hard to compare as I don't have experience on other ebikes to compare it to. But my initial impressions. For me it was a good buy. Certainly would not hesitate recommending the bike to anyone, and if I was to score it would give it a good 9/10.
So bob at Juicy bike. you need to do a lower seatpost option. and look at that back light. You had that sorted and i would have given you a 10
p.s.
Bought at the same time saddle bags, there oxford ones. absolutely fab.
So. now need gloves & Bike kit if i get a puncture
God knows how i am going to keep my head warm on these exposed country roads though automn/winter, will solve that one next.
