Kudos Cycles has hired this excellent venue in North London on the afternoon of May 27,12.30 to 17.00. The Kudos team will have available test bikes of the full range of Kudos e-bikes plus the BH Emotion range ,including the Xenion crank drive bikes.
We think this is the perfect venue to test the advantages of e-bikes and also compare the pros/cons of hub and crank drives ,the circuit includes the challenging Hog Hill.
We will have full and private use of the 2.0 km circuit.
This brand new £4.5 million state of the art cycling centre is a valuable resource to teach cycling skills, funded by the LDA,we will be one of the last events prior to the use of the circuit for the Olympics. If you check the venues website(www.redbridgecyclingcentre.co.uk) videos showing Mark Cavendish lapping the circuit.
We have invited several other e-bike importers so as to ensure that you have access to a wide choice of e-bike suppliers, they will no doubt be providing test bikes-the full list of exhibitors will be announced closer to the event.
All are welcome, please keep your eye on Kudos Website to download a visitors pass and access information.
We value your support,if it is well attended and a popular event it is our intention for Kudos to offer this annually at this time of year.
All comments and enquiries are welcome.

Excellent idea Dave! It ought to be a good day for all those interested in electric bikes and will be all the more so if some of your competitors take up the challenge by lining up their bikes alongside yours.

I think that's a brilliant idea... sadly too far for me but I hope it does wonders for Kudos bikes.

In Wakefield where you rarely see an electric bike...and if you do ...It's mine
...we have a terrific venue at the "Thornes Park Athletic Stadium" where I guarantee this type of event would go down a treat....you could corner the West Yorkshire e bike market David.

Gradient?

Clockwise or anti-clockwise? Anti-clockwise is steeper, but the hill is not very high so the Garmin traces are not very accurate. What is the gradient near the top anticlockwise?

I have now found a fine scale contour map:

Those are 0.5 metre interval contours. So the steepest part of the anticlockwise loop, approaching the short finishing straight, rises by about 10 metres in 100 metres. A 10% slope is a reasonable challenge although since it is rather short, a burst of hard pedalling should be possible for the short distance which will provide a lot of human assist to the electric motor. A much longer 10% hill would really be a better test. Despite this I suppose it may be very useful to compare bike's performance on short hills.

Clockwise looks much tamer. We want anti-clockwise laps!

Dave @ Kudos.

The Bosch powered Xenion 650 is shown on your website as 24 spd. How is the 3X multiple achieved, I can't see an SRAM clik-box on the rear axle.

Excellent venue by the way, let's hope it remains after the Olympics teams have finished with it.

Regards
Bob

Blew it>apologies and very observant of you,the gearing for the BH Emotion bikes is as follows.
Xenion 650-Shimano Alivio 8-speed
Xenion 700-Shimano XT 9-speed
Neo Cross-Shimano Deore 8-speed x 3 - 24 speed
Neo X/Treme-Shimano Alivio 8-speed x 3 -24 speed.
I have altered the Kudos website.

Everyone else....thanks for your positive input to the 'London Electric Bike Test Day'....that layout plan from 10mph is especially useful....Freego bikes have confirmed they will provide personnel and bikes for testing...if its a nice day should be good fun.
I have written to the E4 group of e-bike suppliers but would welcome involvement from others-my only criteria is the bikes must be UK legal-no bikes over 250 watt power.

I could not get your link to the centre to work until I typed it without the brackets.
Here is a better link: Redbridge Cycling Centre | Hog Hill | Redbridge Cycling

Also, it is a bit misleading to describe it as North London; it may be north of the river, but it is also pretty far to the east. As Sherlock Holmes once said, "One should always carry a firearm when venturing east of Aldgate, Watson!"

Oh, I don't know - it's only Zone 4 on the Central Line....

I am keen to compare my present bike's performance around this circuit against the latest hub and crank models. Will I be allowed to use my own bike for a few circuits as well as trying out those being offered for test rides by Kudos?

For me, it is much more interesting to ride on a circuit with steep hills with a well measured profile, than to ride in a flattish area such as is being proposed in Regents Park by the BEBA outfit.

10mph...of course,as long as your bike is UK legal....no motor power above 250 watts,it must be fair comparisons.....I am going to visit the circuit tomorrow to view the track and establish supplier gazebo locations etc...I have already received confirmation that Freego and E-bikes direct will be present.
Please this is not in competition to the BEBA event in Regents Park, they have completely different purposes-it's a shame that I could not have organised this event after the BEBA event,if customers had strong interest at Regents Park then they could have come along to my event to experience varied terrain, but this was the last available date prior to the venue being used for Olympic training.
Look forward to meet with you.

It hadn't been mentioned, I only stated this to inform anyone attending they will need to take one with them, although you can hire one on site on the day.
