Making my cargotrike a climber...

Hi all, newbie here. I have a Christiania trike, but a special version with gear deraillor(spelling?)/7 speed casette. (See photo)

This is to be a summer house bike, for me to bike with my two daughters (so a heavy load altogether) and there is a mean hill going to and from the house. So I need to make this bike a climber with lots of torque, so will probably need to exceed the 250 watts limit. (EU-Denmark based)

Question: What solution will you recommend? I am tempted by the hub based BPM-CST 500 W, nicknamed 'the climber'...but unsure if a center based engine is a better bet? (But looking at the frame I understand most advice against this due to lack of clearance)

Thanks, Mads

For torque over speed go for a 201rpm motor which will still manage 25km/h.
The Bafang bpm/cst is about 4.3kg and 180mm dia alternatively a Q128c 500w comes in at about 3kg and is only 120 mm dia and highly rated.
A crank drive/center drive (BBS) would hang a little low but should have enough clearance otherwise (if dimensions are known) you may be able to fit BBS in the triangle area. A BBS would be the easier build if it was to fit, where was you thinking of putting the battery ? 3 options; A: In the carrier, B: On a rear rack or C: Bolted to the back of the carrier's rear bulkhead.

Interesting, will look into the q128c, and BBS. Battery should probably be outside carrier, so leaning towards C.

Thanks!

It may be possible to fit a BBS02 with the motor above the bottom tube.
Here is the diagram with the dimensions.
Measure your frame and see.
