Man charged after Glasgow cyclist dies in fatal crash seven months ago
Emma Newman, a 22-year-old cyclist from Paris, died after a collision involving a lorry on Friday January 27. Almost seven months later, a 69-year-old man has been charged.
But just compare the three statements below:"Drivers who kill pedestrians, cyclists or motorcyclists on Scotland's roads are likely to receive tougher sentences under new guidance for judges."
Maybe, yes.So a tougher sentence for killing, but then suspending it because his brain wasn't fully developed?!
I agree, I'm all for far lighter sentences all round. I wasn't posting critically, just illustrating what a state of confusion our society is in with punishment.Kids (and probably under 25 year old isn't that bad an approximation really for the transition from kid -> adult)
I think many late 20s are still kids...
Maybe, yes.
The young are easier to deceive, and they know if they get them young, they'll likely have them for life. Going out on missions to preach and campaign, cements faith in young Mormons the same way. Young zealots are persistant. The argument that the brain is not fully developed below the age of 25 seems to be at odds with the devolved government's desire to reduce the age for standing for election to 16. There must be, I assume, sound reasoning behind this but it did strike me as somewhat incongruous.
