Mass test of Electric bike kits

This month's issue 32 of Velovision magazine has a test of a range of kits, both fitting and usage tested. The following kits are reviewed:

There's also mention of the present and forthcoming bikes and kits from:

Sparticle Brompton conversion

Could be a valuable additional reference for future inquirers.

There's also a test and review of 17 bike headlights.

This is the third time now that Velovision have included electric bike mentions and tests so it's gradually becoming required reading for afficionados. Various issues also have very interesting coverage of all the less conventional aspects of cycling, recumbent bikes and trikes, velomobiles, tandems, family bikes, trailers, goods bikes, quad bikes and trikes, plus extensive coverage of the main annual cycle shows in Europe. It's a quarterly A4 magazine.

In this issue, there is also an excellent article describing the building of the two electric assisted "school run" bikes that took part in the Tour of Presteigne 2008.

These brilliant family machines feature 1 parent + 2 children powering along at high speed; all having a wonderful time.

I hope they will be out again in 2009 with the children 1 year older - potential winners outright, but certainly winners in their own class.

That would be a great present John, VeloVision gets progressively better and although they are friends, is in danger of being a real threat to A to B with their coverage of e-bikes, folders and utility bikes.

With all those kits reviewed, plus the two electric assist family bikes article that James mentions, a folder review and a utility bike review, this latest December issue is a good example.

The exacteditions versions are very good. One thing to remember is that if you do want to print anything from the online version you have to do it one page at a time. That means it is worth it for a particular article, but would take a long time to do a whole issue and forever to print all past issues.
