If you have the learn wires (intellegent wires) the controller will find the correct sync combo for you.
Carry out the learn process then when working correctly turn of the bike and disconnect the wires, sometimes it may take a few attempts for the learn process to work. Each time one has to turn off and try again, once working correctly if the learns wires are left connected it will try all over again the process.

Purple might be bike lock wire, hence someone has tagged a bit of Red to indicate live 5v.

I don't know if these work the same way, with the KT you can omit the display for a one PAS level control. With the KT one links together Gnd/Black to Yellow and Red to Blue.

The worst that can happen is you fry the old controller, so nothing lost. If it doesn't work buy another Brainpower or opt for the nicer KT stuff.

It appears to not use a display so will work, how well it works I wouldn't know.
It has PAS so will only have one level of power with a throttle for max power .

For ultimate control it is simply best to fit a KT with 5 PAS levels of control , then one is spoilt for choice for power levels but always in control of them.
