This is the dangerous stage for wisper, they are starting to expand and outsourcing. If they get this wrong they will soon feel it in sales. I reckon a big strength they have is their customer service, lose this and the bikes are really not that an attractive proposition in my view.

if CycleMech is connected to PowaRider, who are also at the Maybury Centre then Wisper support is in good knowledgeable hands, and nobody needs to start the "Wisper are doomed" call.

CycleMech seem to be an independent repair centre only, and not a bike retailer as well, which is good. While I take on board comments re outsourcing generally, I dont think Wisper would be so daft as to shoot themselves in the foot as the support is one of their main advantages. I think they where looking to take some one else on to support Norman but have taken this route instead...will have to wait and see:) But its not nice having to explain yourself afresh to persons unknown, when you had a comfortable relationship with the previous set up.....but that's life things change:p

If you take the bike down to Woking then you will find out if there is a connection between CycleMech and the excellent PowaRider
As regards Wisper shooting themselves in the foot - that would be "support" from an off-shore call centre with a premium rate phone number, not a repair centre local to Norman so that he has the option of popping in whenever required.

about a year ago or maybe I remember David posting asking for an extra mechanic to help out Norman - and that someone from a company in SE England was helping Wisper out on a part time basis.

yes you are right Colin there is a connection. CycleTech seem very organised and professional, I explained the problem to tech guy and he had a go and bike still dead....... later on Steve the boss came in tried it and off it went! I have been trying it daily for 3 weeks and nufink!

if it is a brake lever I feel a bit of a fool because I could I guess of diagnosed that, disconcerted the offending one, and still been able to use the bike!

but if it was a brake why the horrible noise from rear motor.....

TIP: use CYCLETECH phone number 01483720333 as Normans old number goes to message most of the time:D

they have the alpinos and 906xc in stock will have a run on one when I pick the bike up it was lashing down today. that AtoB is a heavy beast........

If the brake cutout contact was marginal and cutting intermittently, the snatches of power supplied can cause horrible noises, because basically the motor is cutting on and off at full power, no gradual phase in.

Yup - I had that when I first bought my Wisper, but the noise only lasted a second before recovering or completely cutting out. Steve diagnosed the problem over the phone and told me what to disconnect and where. That sorted it and I went off on holiday.
However, once you open the front connection box you disturb all the other connections slightly and it is possible it was something else in the box that was causing the problem in your case. I'm sure a few tests will confirm the cause.
By the way, was it this bike that you assaulted the car with before you went on holiday - a knock on the connection box could have caused your problems.

I just spoke to CycleMech and to be honest I dont think they have looked at it.... I had said I would be away this week until today, a mistake in retrospect as probably took this as a reason to delay looking at it:(

Had to go through the whole thing again over the phone, and that Norman had previously diagnosed a controller problem, but I said I would leave this until after the holiday. I am not a happy bunny:rolleyes:

It is unusuall for david not to get involved in something like this, and make something happen, customer service had always looked so good in the past, maybe david is on holiday and knows nothing about this.

Had a call and bike ready to collect. they changed the controller but when testing it it was still hesitating occasionally, so they have changed the whole rear wheel and assembly including motor!

These things happens I guess.......But Wisper as per usual go all the way to put thing right:)

noticed on another forum someone waiting six months for a replacement BionX motor:eek: Steve at CycleMech had told be previously that they have every conceivable wisper part in stock........

Yes, sounds like a multiple fault, or one that caused others. Hopefully never to be repeated, and with the brand's reliability record (if posts here are anything to go by) I doubt you'll have any more problems.

The poor thing has probably had the human equivalent of a triple bypass, and double hip operation:D

Eddie are you back on the road yet, there are so few things to go wrong on an electric bike,a competent person with a couple of hours to spare could easilly check all the components,if your bike is not ready yet they must be incompetent,or your bike has not even been looked at yet.
