We need one! With the sad news from Onbike that they don't plan any more, I hereby vote for Dave,Mr Kudos, to arrange a new version.Somewhere mid south England perhaps Swindon area.Blew it might know a venue. Mid May ideal.

Why not get on and plan it yourself.

Seems to me a event that is not organised by a shop/distributor/manufacturer would be a far better idea ?.

Presteigne was originally organised by one individual, Pete Mustill, but he later became part of the retailer Onbike and it gradually transformed into a trade run event.

It's a tough call for one person to organise something like that though, and even when successful initially it's likely that it will still go the Presteigne event way.

Thanks, flecc! I think the commercial element is essential. After all we need commerce to provide our bikes. Dave has the resources, expertise and experience to do a great job.

In reality im not suggesting one person should organise this but I do feel if a few like minded individuals put there mind to it they could organise a event.

Also if free from direct commercial input (not saying cant get sponsership etc) it is more lilely to survive as would not be held at the whim and control of one company/organisation.

and yes I would consider helping if others are up for doing it although im very much a help out on the day kind of person rather than a long term organiser/arranger.

Hoppy,we would gladly support such an event but April/May and June is already pretty full of roadshows and kitcar/cycle shows. Maybe you could put it to a dealer in your area-CH White,Velospeed etc. If a dealer organises the event he will already represent a number of marques and therefore the event cannot be accused of being dominated by one supplier.
Our Redbridge Cycling event was a brilliant day,to be repeated Sunday April 7 next year.
If you can find a venue similar to that track you will be very lucky. We have roadshows at the Manifold Trail in the Peak district and the Hambleton peninsula,Rutland water.
Good luck.

In theory, it's a nice idea but when one considers that most ebike sellers are very small businesses, then the sheer logistics of actually presenting demo bikes, staff and still running the base premises becomes an enormous, time-consuming and expensive undertaking.

It requires considerable dedication and enthusiasm from dealers in order to take time out to put on such a show, not to mention more than a little dosh! I'm not convinced that the potential rewards are sufficiently attractive to justify such expenditure and I'm sure that's probably the major reason why the event isn't taking place...at, least, as far as I'm aware. Moreover, while it may suit a few of our number to have a jolly over a couple of days in a foreign country, the venue is a little out of the way and unlikely to attract a cast of thousands from all over the country, so limited footfall.

Although this forum attracts lots of posts on a variety of topics, the actual number of regular, active posters isn't that many and while there may be quite a few readers who don't post, in reality how many of our little band would actually commit to turning out for the TDP?

There is an alternative. If there is genuine interest from enthusiastic members of this forum and others, perhaps they could band together and stage an event, bringing along their own bikes so everyone gets a chance to ride the different bikes there. If a decent day or weekend could be organised, perhaps some of our trade members might be inspired to make the effort?

Apologies to other correspondents who have already said as much.

Pretty much what I had in mind. A get together for everyone to try each others bikes. No need to spend a lot just need to find a suitable venue for a weekend with various accommodation options (camping, B&B , Hotels) nearby and have a E-Bike Festival. Then if traders etc want to attend as well that is a option but not necessary to have a fun event.

This would be a good area

Well,
There is the Thames Traditional Boat Show at Beale Park Pangbourne.
Plenty of room on site for exhibits and visitor camping.
In order to boost attendance, they have incorporated an old car show.
One e-bike shop has exhibited there in the past.

there is a growing number of chances to see bikes at different events, a definite improvement on a few years ago...

Effectively what our Kudos roadshows are all about. We have picked locations in a beautiful area where we can erect our gazebos, assisted by a local dealer and invite as many ebike enthusiasts as we can reach,we want all marques not just Kudos users.
To be honest the organisation is not that difficult and is not expensive. The biggest problem is the marketing and getting people out of their cosy houses and coming to the middle of nowhere to meet up with fellow pedelecs.
We invite all on our database, let our existing customers know, invite the sustainable transport managers from councils and big employers in the area and push it as hard as we can on forums such as this. But in the end its down to you guys to make the event a success,if nobody turns up all the effort seems wasted. We distributed thousands of leaflets for the 2012 Redbridge event, in the end abour 100 turned up,all agreed it was a great day and we are doing it again in 2013.
The Hambleton event is based around a wonderful pub,the Finch's arms and the Manifold Trail event is near some wonderful old country pubs,as time gets nearer we will announce more definite details to make these events very social gatherings.
But we can't cover the whole country, other ebike suppliers could do more-Storck did a similar event in the lake district and Atmosphere did the hillclimb race in Bristol.
Cycle shows such as the NEC are all very well but they are expensive and the London Green fairs are limited by the small test tracks available-just look at the hills either side of the Manifold Trail near Waterhouses to see what a real test you can experience with these venues.
I invite all the other marques to take part in the Redbridge event, the cost is minimal. To date only Cyclezee has accepted my invitation, its a shame because this could become something really big,the test circuit is superb.

Garry,still putting this one together.
I intend a meet at the Wetton Mill tea rooms, they have already given their agreement. The tea rooms are about halfway along the Manifold Trail from Waterhouses to Hartington, there are some spectacular hills either side of the trail up to Butterton and Wetton Ashbourne,a good test for ebike climbing abilities.
I intended it to be either Saturday April 13 or Sunday April 14.
The Manifold Trail is a hard surfaced old railway line in the valley bottom, runs for about 12 miles of easy riding, the scenery is stunning.
It was intended that the Kudos team would migrate back to the 'Ye Old Royal Oak' pub at Wetton Ashbourne after the ride.
I emphasise this meet IS FOR ALL EBIKES NOT JUST KUDOSBIKES' or for customers just interested in trying an ebike.
Will advise once all arrangements have been finalised.
I think this is what you had in mind?

Looking foward to it. I am planning to go up there this week for a look around the Tissington and High Peak Trails.

Would be good if could be over 2 days and may be organise a longer ride out for those interested. there are a few nice loops to try although the Manifold track it self is a bit linear.
