Before we see any sort of mass cycling there needs to be a big shift in attitudes from everyone on and off the road .

Very little in fact, TfL buses are rarely involved in bike accidents, probably because the drivers are so used to bikes with over half a million bike commutes each day. High cab construction trucks were a much bigger problem in recent years.

Fortunately we seem to have cracked the deaths problem, it's now ten months since the last one on 23rd June 2015, something of a miracle. Most years there's 11 London cyclist deaths in any ten month period.

So where cyclist deaths are concerned, London is now by far the safest part of the UK, elsewhere still on target for about a hundred per year period. Even when our deaths were occurring in recent earlier years, the London rate was no higher than any other area pro rata.
