Motor gone rather noisy (a 250w 8fun /bafang)
Last night I swapped my 14a 8fun supplied controller for a 17a BMS KU65
At the same time I upgraded all connections from those cheap and nasty push-to-fit crimps to XTR lipo plugs. I did this on both my main battery (37v 9ah) and booster battery(7.4v 9ah). This also allows me to easily choose to connect the booster battery or not
At the same time I shortened all the power leads down to what was actually required – previously I had coils of spare wire.
Result – I think the top speed is about the same, maybe just a touch higher but hard to tell as my cycle comp chose last night to die permanently (and my commute was fast but not my fastest). There is definitely more torquey feel which presumably is the amp increase.
However, the motor is significantly noisier even when under very little load so pulling well under 14a
When I had merely upped the voltage to 44.4v and fed that through the 8fun controller I got the speed boost but no notable change in noise. Now I have changed controller it is a lot noisier but I’m not feeding it more volts or amps
Any ideas ? Its not actually an issue as such - I’m just curious as to why it should be. I had always expected the motor to be “growlier” as others have described it just not sure why I only get that effect with one of the controllers
Thanks
Kirstin
