Hi everyone. I have a problem!! I bought a Freego Eagle about five months ago and have had nothing but problems with it??. I bought the bike (I won't say where but in the west country) because it supposedly was top end and very well built and reliable? And a great bike it is but the problems are that at first the spokes kept braking and went back to the dealer on 4 or 5 occasions but still kept breaking until they sent the wheel away and was respoked by hand and was ok? But there is another problem with the motor which keeps cutting out so I have no power but the motor seems to be still engaged because you can't pedal it as it's to hard this has happened a few times and been back to the dealer another 3 times and the last time I had to push the bike the last 3 miles to work at 0600hrs but just managing to ride it down hill. I must say the dealer has been great but when he took it away last time I said that I had lost all faith and confidence in the bike and said that the bike was not fit for purpose and said I want a new bike or my money £1400 back. All the dealer has lent me a step through Eagle and if mine was as good I woulnt have a comPlaint but it ain't?? They took my Eagle last Friday and I have not heard a thing since I have also phoned the main dealer/impoter and e-mailed 3 times over the last 3 months but have had no answer to any???. What should I do next. ??. steve.c:mad:

Hi Steve,
If you left exeter on the A30 for a few miles past the ottery st mary turn off then I think I know your dealer??
He seemed nice enough, however I had heard some bad reports about the head office company.....
I would go back and demand your money back if they dont have a replacement bike the same as yours.
With hindsight it would have been better if you had demanded a replacement or return of your money earlier on.....but then hindsight is a great thing......
I'm sure someone will be along to advice better on the legalities of your situation......
Sorry to hear of your problems......pity that you hadnt gone to Phil for a TONARO at south molton......better bike and second to none customer care...sorry, I know thats no help to you now, but might be if you get your money back ! Good luck

The spokes problem is common on production bikes and has now been sorted.

The remainder of the problem appears to be the motor itself if that binding is anything to go by, and a motor wheel swap may sort that out, so you could suggest they try that, it would only take minutes to do. They should have spare motor wheels in stock, all importers of hub-motor bikes that I know do have.

I am sure that FreeGo say 'if the bike can't be repaired within 5 days they will give you a new one'.

Check the warranty and the website.

Hi steve.c

I think you have had good support from the dealer you are still mobile with a loan bike

If they fit a new back wheel it should fix the problems

I think when you accepted a repair then its to late to get your money back or a new bike

The other option is if you paid with a credit card NOT debit card you have protection there

I think Frank is wrong. By excepting a repair you are not giving away your consumer rights...As if the repair is not successful you are intitled to return the goods for a refund. Citizens advice will help or consumer direct. Its only a matter of a phone call...

if its not ok when returned , insist on a new bike or your money back. they are entitled to try and fix it , but with all the problems you have had its time to give the ultimatum that you expect a perfect bike or a brand new perfect bike. you should by now be talking to the owner of the company who supplied you with the bike and not the guys in the shop.... the law is on your side on this.......

That's interesting! I'm not sure whether at this point in your saga we should condemn the dealer/manufacturer or applaud them for their belated action. Please do let us know in due course.
