In a very good way. :)

Work fell through again today so rather than waste the day I popped out and put in an unintended 33miles of mainly off road riding. As usual things were very wet and muddy, but the ride looks as though it could have potentially created a couple more e-bike users.

I was stopped by one really nice guy who wanted to buy an e-bike for one of his employees to get to work on, the journey distance being 5 miles each way, but with several steep hills. It was an odd one, as he said that he had literally been discussing it with his wife, walked out of the café, and there I was. He certainly took plenty of photos. He didn't want to be spending more than 1k, so I recommended that he contact Hattie. Hopefully I did a very good sales pitch for you Hattie. :)

Then further along the ride, I just happened to bump into an exceedingly well known person from within the world of International motorcycle racing. I say bumped into, it was more a case of me seeing him pop into the driveway to his house and I turned around for a chat. It's not as bad as it sounds, as I used to pop in quite often for a chat and a cuppa, but haven't been over in his direction for a year or so. The upshot of it was that he was blown away by the KTM, and reckoned that it was by far the best looking e-bike that he had seen. He was all over it like a rash, and it now looks as though a KTM dealer could be winning a sale as well. :) I'm popping back across when my next bike arrives, and he can have a play on both to see which suits him the best. He hadn't realised that KTM made cycles, and kept bringing it into the conversation. I did tell him that you can't own an e-bike unless there was some form of motorcycle heritage to it. ;)
Given his connection to the race bike World, It'll be interesting to see how that one plays out, and whether others will follow.

I also stopped off mid way round for some of the best cheesy chips that I have ever had. Not the best of cycling fodder though, but who cares. :)

Then I chanced my arm to cut across mod land, and for once I made it without having to turn around and scarper! :D

Now it's time to have a wash and scrub up, before going out to celebrate our 20th wedding anniversary. All in all, a good day, even if I didn't earn any money.

Usual mud!

Go to the off road bike thread to see before and after pics as well as the cleaning regime, the thread may take a while to read though.

Mountainsport, I don't own a pressure washer, and to be honest I'm not a fan of them for washing bikes.

Just done a quick search and have come up with the following two posts. :)

Canny ride :)
A bit too much going on this week to get out myself, the missus wants a new car so having to take her round a few garages to see what she likes the look of!
As long as its a 4x4 I am not bothered.
Some of the roads round here have been blocked the last couple of days and more forecast so its not so bad to have a week off.

A bit too much going on this week to get out myself
I've been trying to get out at least four evenings/nights a week, plus one day time ride a week, but sadly things haven't quite been going to plan, so it's been more like three times a week. It can be tough trying to motivate yourself to ride after having spent all day working outside, then putting on wet muddy clothes/shoes, to go and do it all again in the dark and rainy weather.
I love it once out and never want the rides to stop, but it isn't easy. I've recently hooked up with an ex pro road cyclist, and it's him who has given me the extra push of motivation. He is out every evening, and riding with him has really brought me on, and shed some weight from me! In some ways it has perhaps also slightly knocked the chilled element of things. I tend to go out with him for perhaps a more focussed ride, then just chill when I'm on my own. Roll on drier sunnier conditions.

The other thing with going out in the mud so frequently, is that the bike is suddenly looking a bit tired. Trying to hose it down and oil it etc after every ride when you get back in at around 10.00pm is a tough discipline. I'm alternating between the e-mtb and the pedal mtb, but it will be better when the next e-mtb is here, then I can dedicate more time to cleaning and prepping the bike, so keeping it immaculate. As mentioned elsewhere, the soil here is very corrosive, and you daren't leave any trace of dirt on any bare metal components. Leave a chain or cassette overnight for example, and it'll just be bright orange with rust by the next day. I'm also getting through brake pads at an alarming rate, and chains aren't so far behind either. Once winter is over and spring has arrived, I plan to completely nut and bolt the whole bike.

Looking tired.

After todays 34 mile mtb event, the bike needs cleaning again! Write up to follow, but it didn't end well for me, and I was right about the fact that Nyon has no place on an e-mtb. I also now need a new helmet after having the peak torn off in a crash, and other damage to it. I'm now off to bed, with a severely jarred neck and back pain. No bike washing today. :(

I did learn something that made me chuckle though. Martin was talking complete and utter bullsh*t when he was trying to knock KTM with smart comments in relation to my initial chain suck issue, and also by saying that Haibikes don't suffer chain suck because "Haibike actually test their bikes". I also learnt that Martin has been trying to sort a Lapierre out that has been suffering from it. Thankfully with my one simple ten minute to fit mod, the KTM has been free from chain suck for sometime now. Unlike certain Haibikes, and Lappierre Overvolts.
And on the same subject, I also have also read recently about a UK Haibike owner who's chain suck issue has cost the a lot of money, in replacement rear mechs, rear wheels and other damage. To use a twist on Martins words, clearly Haibike don't test their bikes.
Every negative deserves a positive, and the person telling me about the Lapierre, also stated that Martins after sales help, couldn't be faulted in any way, and that his friend was a very happy customer. So keep up the good work in respect of that.:) I did bite my tongue when he said that his mate gets an 110mile range out of the battery.
To Martin, I would suggest that rather than trying to knock another bike manufacturer, that you knocked Bosch instead.
