Well it's a little over a year since I purchased my pro connect second hand from eBay. I was impressed from the off with my new acquisition, but felt I needed taller gearing to suit my riding style and terrain. I changed my rear sprocket to one with fewer teeth and this sorted things for me. More top speed, lower cadence to maintain a comfortable speed. No hills where I live so I never use the first 4 gears. (I have the 8 speed shimano hub). A year on and things are going well. These bikes are built to last, I promise any of you, kalkhoff bikes are pure quality and better than anything else on the market! This is my honest opinion derived from my bike surviving a daily commute, hauling my 19 stone, plus lunch box 12 miles a day. Every week I just check tyre pressures as I've found these need to be kept high for optimal performance. My battery has suffered slightly from my sprocket change, as I'm putting a bigger demand on it for almost constant full power, and as such just about has enough charge to get be to work and back before its flat. Perhaps I should consider an upgrade to a higher capacity unit? If you want a proper pedelec, not a twist and go throw away jobby, go for a kalkhoff. Also don't be afraid of a decent second hand unit. There are massive savings to be made and their build quality should mean trouble free cycling for years to come. I couldn't be happier with mine, and I know where to come if I need any help with my bike, the guys on this site helped me with my gearing and tyre choice a year ago and things are still perfect. I still say to everyone that my pro connect is the best thing I've ever bought, I'm so glad I did it.
