I have to say that one of the things I saw that impressed at the NEC was the Oxygen kit......lovely design, very neat......dont know all the technical details but aesthetically it kicks the Daahub into touch ......anyone else noticed it ?

Not that I am personally interested in buying a kit, but I appreciated the design......

Pics where posted on the forum a while back Lynda, overall response was very favourable....however, the use of a Bafang hub motor at the suggested kit price is a bit hard to take TBH.

Can't honestly say, as I had no interest in trying it, just liked the look of it...... :)

Probably reflects the high cost of developing and small scale manufacturing of such a stylish setup. If it takes off they may be able to lower the price quite a lot, it's certainly got potential.

I tried the Oxygen bike, is that what you mean? It did not really stand out as anything above other makes. There were bikes I prefered more. However I did not find a single bike that made me grimace and whine! They were all more like (turn to camera) "niiice" or "smoooooth"

OXYDrive was not available to test ride this time, we did have just one unit fitted on the bike and to be honest it wasn't really very safe show as David's 905sel got stolen I would never put our only kit bike on the test track after that.

Powerwise I agree with you Spinalot, there are plenty of bike that run almost the same, that's mainly due to power limit we have and only those ''250W'' bikes with bigger motors can have that whoof factor.

The new OXYDrive it is more about design, functionality and quality rather then loads of power. On the first edition they will be fitted with 8FUN front motor until we finalise our own new front motor with new type of clutch.

Having tested all of the available off the shelf motors I can say that all of them are nice but also all of them have a downsides. I've been also testing the Dapu motor for over the year now. I find it less powerful then the Dapu, making a lot more noise then 8FUN and being more limited as when it comes to fit a disc brake as it requires special custom disc. Also for us makers amazingly 8FUn is more expensive but due to proven reliability we decided to use these motors on the first edition of OXYDrive over Dapu. I would love to have our own front wheel motor finalised before but then again the OXYDrive would have to be put on hold till the next year.

all the best

I am not really the best person to offer an opinion on whats hot and whats not. Like I said, every bike I tried had me grinning like a loon. Thats because the whole pedelec experience is new to me :)
Also to be honest I tried so many I lost all track of what I did try out. The only ones that I could venture an opinion on were ones that stuck out, and they tended to be the designs that caught my eye and were already fitting into what I wanted in terms of comfort levels. If you read my blog you will see what I mean.

Well I find the Dapush motor fitted to my Wisper DaaHub a very nice piece of kit...Powerful and compact you would hardly recognise it as an e bike. and it propels my 17 unfit stone to 20mph easily.....

My 3 previous bikes with SB motors were agricultural in comparison.

Now you got me confused Edieo, So the Daahub is not a motor? How can you fit a motor to a motor. Sorry for being thick :-(

My Dapu is only allowing me to do 14mph but it has a lower gearing so in fact should climb better but it's performing just as 8FUN. You must have a different set up on your Dapu Eddie that's why you capable of doing 20mph. Anyway both hubs are fine but I feel there are areas of improvement on both 8FUN and Dapu.

Indeed but if you like what the system does then fitted to a half decent bike it would work out cheaper than the complete Stork offering...

Oxydrive system

Hi all,

I have been reading the posts regarding the Oxydrive System which certainly looks impressive on the web site and it looks as though the guys at Oxygen have done a great job.

I am already the proud owner of an Oxygen eMate Race 2011 which is a great bike and superb quality, it was certainly not cheap but then again I didnt want a cheap looking bike. It does the job for me and gets to 15mph with no problem at all, it would be lovely to get to 20mph but this of course would be illegal and I dont even know if an ebike can be derestricted as I am no expert ? My Oxygen eMate Race 2011 is still fairly heavy but I suppose compared to other bikes it is very similar as approx 21kg.

Anyway, so back to the Oxydrive system has anyone actually ridden a bike with this system fitted as I have a Trek 7.5FX that weighs approx 9kg so adding the Oxydrive system would still give me a very light ebike, would I still only get a max speed (Legally) of 15mph ? I would very much like to go with an Oxydrive kit but it is not something I would feel confident enough in fitting myself so hopefully it will be available soon for supply and fit at a bike shop near me soon ?

Well done Oxygen.

Hi Alistair, thanks for the post and glad to hear you are also pleased with the Oxydrive kits. I am sure we would all love to see some images of the Hybrid bike you have that already has the Oxydrive kit fitted ?

What bike is it fitted too and what sort of total weight do you get ?

I live in Berkshire so Bristol is a bit of a long Trek for me otherwise I would have loved to pop in and say hi plus see what you have.

Many thanks
Andrew

Hi Andrew

I will try and organise some pics tomorrow for you

It is currently on a Schwinn Explorer Hybrid, waiting for one more addition at the moment. Not exactly sure of the weight but I guess around 20kg - again I can weigh it tomorrow

Have sold the others we have done already but we have converted mountain bikes as well as hybrids

Will get back to you tomorrow

Alistair
