who told you it was a better bike then a Wisper I wonder.... The dealer? Ha hah ha;)

I and many others on here have been very happy with Wisper bikes and the support and backup is probably among the best around......

Hi

Buying a electric bike is like buying a car or motor bike You are paying good money

you need to test ride both bikes what do they feel like to YOU

Do you like the look off the bike

look at value for money and Support Support Support

It boils down to personnel choice

Cost off replacement battery

How long is the warranty

Hope that helps

They kinda have a bit of a reputation for cheap shots....

They criticise the Bosch system (which has taken Europe by storm) in favour of (surprise surprise) their own main brand of Panasonic powered bikes

They have been slagging of Ezee bikes but they have not sold them for years!lol

Real electric bikes from 50cycles UK. eZee Forza electric mountain bike - high performance electric bicycle

So to this list we can now add Wisper....

Take Franks advice and try a range of bikes first.

There's so many bikes to choose from. There's nothing wrong with Oxygen bikes. As far as I can remember, there's no significant problems ever reported on this forum. Those that bought then said that they were very happy with them.

Hi David
Both bike brands, Wisper and Oxygen, are members of BEBA and have good reputations for quality and reliability. If you have the money, have tried them out, if you trust the reviews then go for it.
Electric bikes save you money, keep you fit, are good for the environment... what's to think about?

I thinking very strongly of the Oxygen Cytie-mate in Sliver it lighter than the whisper and bigger battery and motor if i have read it right the only problem is that over here in Belfast we have only a few Giant bike dealers and no one else so i if i buy any other make and it develops a fault i have to ship it back to the dealers and that expensive.

Thank you for high lighting this Eddie, with regard to the eZee Forza link, I would just like to say that the early Phylion Lithium Ion batteries used by eZee back in 2007 bear no comparison to the high quality eZee batteries of today.......apart from the shape of the case that is.

Regards,

Like i said in my last post we have only Giant electric bike dealers here and the one in that range is costing me £1650 and i did not want to go to that price but i would have no shipping cost back to the UK mainland if something went wrong. In my price range it,s the Oxygen or the Wisper and as i said in my last post i do like the Oxygen the only thing that is holding me back is the thought of something going wrong we have a good cycle network in and around Belfast and a lot of cycles i would have thought there was a market in N Ireland for companies like Wisper and Oxygen to set up here.

I hadn't seen that particular piece of advertising till you drew attention to it Eddie and I'm bound to say, I'm very disappointed that a firm of 50cycles' standing should adopt such a despicable marketing strategy. There's no need for it as their range of ebikes sports many highly-regarded models and they have built a decent reputation so such a tactic, in my view, just diminishes that reputation.

In a year's time, I expect they'll be selling Bosch-powered ebikes in addition to their current range. That will be interesting!

I have never had any dealings with them, but, having read this forum for three and a half years, cannot fail to notice that they do exhibit a certain attitude, one might say. Also the odd dodgy marketing. Anyone remember their "Can-Do" folding bike when they stopped selling the Ezee Quando? And oh yes, of course all Ezee bikes are rubbish since they fell out with Mr. Ching.

I think they will be probably selling the high speed Bosch Kalkhoff models this year as the latest 36 v panasonics are now extremely expensive!

Yes reputation...If they will damage another companies reputation out loud on their web site ( one they have not sold for 4 years!) you can just wonder what they can say privately to people hence the criticism of Wisper

I know that Wisper and Oxygen have a healthy and cordial relationship, probably steaming from their membership of BEBA. So no surprises why 50 cycles are not members as they would be unlikely to get away with such tactics if they were I would hope....

If they are members now they should act in a more decent manner IMO

not looking forward to ordering the new Bosch model from them now......but sometimes unpalatable truths needs revealing

Are the bosch kalkoffs not going to be very expensive as well? Nobody seems to know how much replacement batteries are for bosch bikes either.

Bosch replacement batteries about 5-600 euro. the cheaper model Kalkhoff Bosch S class was approx £2450 last time I looked. the new Panasonic 36 volt S class over £3700 and Sahel models £3300...... I cant check as computer speed problems, but you can look at euro prices on this link:

Kalkhoff : 2012

David, the Panasonic crank drive bikes have been around for ages, the Bosch crank drives are very new. if you want a throttle powered bike you need to get a hub powered bike, they are cheaper as well.....

use the forum "search" facility to read up on stuff, lots of ino and opinion there...

Time and time again we've had people coming into our showrooms saying they have test ridden a Wisper and then they leave with an Oxygen, often because they prefer the look of the Emate City and the 15Ah battery pack, as well as the £1395 price tag. And less easy to quantify, they say it feels better. Is there anyone here who has tried an Oxygen and then bought a Wisper? That's not a rhetorical question, it'll help get to the meat of what the difference is between the two.

This is information we share with customers who are struggling to decide, it's not a concerted marketing campaign. We sell roughly 20-30 times more Kalkhoffs than Oxygen bikes, but Oxygen bikes are brilliant for those who have their heart set on a twist-and-go ebike. Very good, extra-mile support from Andrew of Oxygen too, which bodes well for the Oxydrive kit. Same goes for the Freego folder - very enjoyable to ride and the support from Freego has been second-to-none in our experience. On the other hand, the Gocycle looked great but turned out to be disappointing in terms of range, handling, reliability and ergonomics in comparison to all the other bikes we sold. So we stopped selling it and when people ask why it's not in our window, I tell them why.

And yes, we'll be selling a very interesting Bosch-powered Kalkhoff before the year's out.
