That is some price to pay for a Bosch Kalkhoff i know the Kalkhoff is a class bike but how they expect to sell the 2012 range at that price well i thank they are over priced i would not pay the price no mater how good they are.

Bosch replacement batteries about 5-600 euro. the cheaper model Kalkhoff Bosch S class was approx £2450 last time I looked. the new Panasonic 36 volt S class over £3700 and Sahel models £3300...... I cant check as computer speed problems, but you can look at euro prices on this link:

Kalkhoff : 2012

David, the Panasonic crank drive bikes have been around for ages, the Bosch crank drives are very new. if you want a throttle powered bike you need to get a hub powered bike, they are cheaper as well.....

use the forum "search" facility to read up on stuff, lots of ino and opinion there...

I for one find 50 cycles statements above astonishingly arrogent...we are all old enough to test and compare what bikes are available and come to our own buying decisions thank you very much. That you can still be carping on abut battery issues which affected Ezee bikes and others, what was it 4 years ago?

Furthermore that you see no shame in openly commercially damaging competitors again astonishing. I think you need to clean your act up...removing the damaging and historic Ezee web page would be a start, and letting us punters make up our own minds another.....

You cant have much confidence in your product if you find it acceptable to resort to these kinds of tactics.

David, Crank drive bikes are more refined and quieter and have always been more expensive then the simpler hub motor bikes....My Bosch KTM was £1800, very reasonably for what you get IMO. Again the only way to find whats best for you is to try them and ask away on here for opinion...

But if you need decent hill climbing better of with a crank drive bike

Thanks eddieo for your advice i think i will go with the oygen stylee-mate citye-mate in sliver
and hope i don't have to ship it back under warranty for repair because that alone would cost me £150 that includes the return cost so here hoping.

I don't think some the above statements about 50 Cycles are right here. I've been dealing with 50Cycles for 2 years now and I have to say their service is exceptional in terms of customer service and after sales support and I'm very happy to work with them.

I think the opinions they have about Ezee bikes are based purely of their personal expeirence they had with the Ezee bikes for a number of years. As far as i know there were problems with Ezee bikes mainly due to failing baterries which were made by Phylion Energy.

In fact I know Ezee bikes have now solved the baterry issues as they use the same assembler as us but for 50Cycles there is a lack of confidence in the brand remained. As it took mr.Ching a while to solve the issues with quality they dropped the sales of Ezee and started kalkhoff which with no doubts are the great bikes.

all the best

Hi David,

Thank you for being so keen on the Oxygen and I understand your concerns here with shipping it back to the dealer. In case there were any issues we can always first try to solve the issues without sending the bike back such sending you a spare part and fully guide over the phone on how to swap it. Our bikes now have been greatly improved and it's all quite straight forward to replace all parts if needed. When ever you would have any problem i can assure you we will get it sorted out.

all the best

Indeed but after 4 years its time to move on. What was applicable then is not now...

The 2006/2007 battery issue was common to all li-ion batteries when the change from cobalt to manganese cathodes was necessitated by the incidence of the former's fires.

Manganese is lower on the cathode efficiency scale than cobalt so current delivery failed to meet the demands of higher powered motors until further development and compound cathodes improved the performance. Thus it wasn't specifically an eZee or a Phylion issue and the January 2008 Phylion improved battery I ran in testing for over two years on two eZee bikes was one of the best I've ever used.

In fact the only better one was a 14 Ah eZee unit built by Advance, but with 40% more capacity that was only to be expected.

Another very well known major manufacturer of e-bike suffered almost as much as eZee in those earlier years, but as that was their early years of being in the business and there were very few of their bikes around, it just wasn't noticed. In contrast, eZee at that time were the top selling higher price e-bikes in the UK market, at one point 38% of this forum's members riding them, so their problems were naturally very apparent.

As others have said, it's long past time to move on and recognise that eZee are one of the best brands on the market, better specified than many and at competitive prices.

local support is invaluable with e bikes, as its not if but when will it require attention..... as irespective of price all can have problems and most do.

This is where wisper bikes stand out from the crowd!
