Does anyone know where a replacement can be purchased for this obsolete bike? It is the mechanical rotating dial type switch with OFF, ON, ECO. ON position no longer works, but ECO does. Can one just jury rig by replacing the controller with toggle switches to the lead wires to get the same control? If so, what color pairs do you connect?

I now ride a Kalkkoff Agattu, but the good old LA Free is great for riding down the hill to the Mailbox etc. I live is USA-Massachusetts

It may not be the switch. These Panasonic units suffered a fault that could crop up at some time during life which left the unit only on Eco whether put to On or Eco. It's an unrepairable fault in the encapsulated circuit board, Panasonic just recommended replacing the whole unit.

However, if you are getting nothing on the On position and it is the switch at fault, you can just use toggle switches in place of it's internal microswitches or replace the defective microswitch. I don't know the colours but by opening the switch you'll see what they are connected internally.

There's details on stripping the switch in my Panasonic support website on this link.
