Some initial observations.

It is a geared motor, the reduction ratio being biased towards good hill-climbing rather than high speeds on the flat.

The motor incorporates regenerative braking, activated by a light pull on the brake lever.

Some info gleaned from the road test of the KTM E-cross P.

The tester mentioned the absence of any state-of-charge reporting on the LCD panel. Apparently there is no warning of the battery approaching "empty". So what's it going to be like pedalling the thing with a flat battery?. Remember, any motor providing regenerative braking cannot have a freewheel clutch to isolate the reduction gears, so it might be a bit like riding through treacle. The tester makes no mention of how it rides on a flat battery.

The first link below is a description of the motor. A link is provided to the road test. Just in case you miss this, I have provided a second link to the road test results. Both reports are translated from German. It takes a few seconds for the pages to appear.

DESCRIPTION

ROAD TEST

I was told last night a KTM E-cross P fitted with this drive is arriving in Swindon sometime next week...I'll have to pop along and have a squint at it.

We have the KTM eTour version in stock which has the same system on and I have been very impressed. The display is not as good as the Bosch but more than sufficient and includes a battery indicator. I previously offered anyone on this forum a free test ride and that offer is always open.

I'm pretty sure you shipped a bike to Anglesey recently - so that stands you in good stead.

Just looking at a comparison between eTour; eRace and eStyle.
The eTour/eStyle look very similar to me.
I've tried the eRace 650 at Manifold as you know; and I'm also keen on the Neo Cross. Any views on these 4 bikes?

My main problem buying from the other end of the earth (Norfolk) would be; what if anything goes wrong?
I am useless mechanically.

If anything goes wrong we collect the bike from you - free of charge and offer a courtesy bike if one is needed for no additional cost not aware of anyone else doing this for free. Yes Wissy bought her KTM off us and lives around your area.

In terms of the Panasonic bikes mentioned above it depends what you want the model we have in stock is ideal for people who want to use the bike in all light conditions i.e. day and night as well as to carry luggage e.g. to commute or trekking. If this is not needed then I would go for one of the other models such as the eRace. All the Panasonic bikes have the same system, only difference is the bike specification.

Key difference between eTour and eStyle is the latter has hydraulic disk brakes and the other hydraulic rim brakes. Although we do not stock Neo they are good bikes prefer our Panasonic.
