Absolutely right. John Bloor has achieved entirely though his own effort and direction as you describe. With Rolls Royce aero engines the right direction is also true, but an extra feature comes into play that greatly helps them. That's the existence of the French led Airbus Industrie, Rolls Royce being the only European jet engine company capable of supplying suitable engines, SNECMA (former Gnome et Rhone) not being up to that standard. The French would never accept a US supply situation only, so airlines have a three way choice of engines to match their existing fleet. Also the three jet engine giants, GE, Pratt & Whitney and Rolls Royce, work together on collaborative projects, their shared expertise being so great that no-one else can even start into the market. Why not instead describe how John Bloor built the new Triumph? Or explain how the few world class companies Britain still has, like Rolls Royce, manage to succeed?
Two things John Bloor and RR have in common: they plan ahead, a very long time ahead. And they pay a lot of attention to developing people. What did the idiots I’ve known have in common? An obsession with short term gain.
