Paul, this is what was behind my recent thread, the constant propaganda of the proselytisers.

Seeing Footies thread title I'd hoped that would not have the propaganda appear since it was intended for wearers only, but of course one of the propaganda gang had to spoil that as usual. They just can't stop themselves.

Oddly enough just answered above Paul. In more detail, it was a trap for the proselytisers, but it was moved off subject immediately.

I stand corrected Bode and should have know better I have been in healthcare all my working life, most of it in the NHS.

There's a certain irony there.

I'm still quite taken with the idea of a leather flying helmet. This one looks most interesting. Certainly stands out from the crowd.

My thoughts as well. It's also got a microphone. Could fit this to a loudspeaker mounted on the handlebars and use as an effective vocal alert. Also keeps ears warm in winter. Also should get you noticed on the road. It pays to stand out from the crowd.

I'm also on a football forum that has a similar policy and it works well. However I think it's fair enough that we get people asking for help choosing an e-bike. It's a big investment that shouldn't be taken lightly. I'd hate to see this site turn into the sort of place that turns on the 'noobs' (god I hate that term!) as soon as they appear rather than offering constructive advice or pointing out the threads that would be of help to them.

The ebikes available changes often and peoples requirements are different so the answers are rarely the same.
And there's nothing wrong with the helmet threads themselves, just the preachers that make them dull.

I understand your point, but it won't work here. Football is largely unchanging over long periods of time so that kind of moderation is appropriate.

Take the threads asking for new bike choice advice. Every month or so new models are announced, existing models are discontinued, bike specifications are changed etc, so old thread references wouldn't do.

Even on contentious subjects like the "H" word, new studies are made and their conclusions are relevant for fresh discussion. And then there's the case of my recent thread which was on a new subject associated with the "H" word which had never been discussed in here before. It was immediately misinterpreted and it's subject changed by those posting responses, but should that be grounds for suppressing that new subject? Obviously no if we value free speech online.

Ok,maybe a compromise?Start a " sticky " titled," which electric bike should I buy?" or similar title.If some one starts a new thread they can be asked to post in the appropriate place.This would have the benefit of collating all the older posts in one place so the newbie can read back on new and older posts.
