.... I'm still quite taken with the idea of a leather flying helmet. This one looks most interesting ....

Great modern styling, it's got built in head phones for a MP3 player, outstanding :)

if a little stick is given to us by people calling us "lazy" for riding and "electric bike"...how much stick would we get if we looked like we had "ditched" our lancaster and continueing our raid on a bike ???.........if i wear a helmet i dont want music in my ears but protection for my head,i once and ONLY once rode a bike with music coming from my player and i got to this roundabout and i had NO IDEA of what to do,...i decided then and there that the roads are dangerous enough with poor conditions and bad drivers so NO MORE distractions for me while im riding....

Well said Keith. I won't even use a car radio when driving, only what's going on outside matters.

I have music playing while I cycle - but only very quietly. I can still hear the traffic perfectly well. I used to ride my motorcycle with earplugs in (as you should if you value your hearing) - you quickly adapt to it. I don't like music on in the car though - its already muffled enough!

Now my wife would say 'That's because you're a bloke - so you can't multi-task!'
Is she right? ;)

Yeah have to agree about the MP3 and focus. I don't use one myself - MP3 player that is. Still we were only having a bit of fun originally prompted by Phil the drills leather flying helmet which by the way we haven't seen yet. Or did those rats finish it off?

We've seen this barrage of disapproval about headphones http://www.pedelecs.co.uk/forum/electric-bicycles/54-wearing-earphones-while-cycling.html?highlight=phones and MP3’s before (sorry can’t find the thread where I got lectured). It’s part of the course, if you post about it someone is bound to wag their disapproving finger at you and say “naughty, naughty” – the older ones are the worst ones :p :D
At the end of the day it’s all about personal choice – that’s why we all ride different bikes – isn’t it great not to be a brain dead crowd follower ;)

No barrage Footie, just expressing our personal choice. :). My views on others having earphones are in the thread you highlighted here.

Easily done when searching for an entry Footie, I know 'cos I've done it a few times myself.

I've sometimes even forgotten to take the post link and entered a blank link in my post.

multi tasking is the role you do when doing more then 1 none life threatening jobs at once where minor errors cost you nothing, riding a bike IS life threatening and even minor errors can be fatal....i had a BIG scare and escape at that roundabout and with it realised if it had been a busy roundabout with ANY other vehicles i may not now even be in a position to winge about flat batteries or whether i wear a bike helmet or not...
