Came across this ... looks handy if you don't want to have to have one mounted on the bike all the time (or can't easily accommodate one) :

How Click-Stand, the Portable Folding Kickstand, Works

Interesting idea. Photo of it holding bike up on wet sand - wonder if that really works !

$45 and $39! For a bit of tube!
Seeing the first one got me thinking of using a retractable photographic monopod with a curved top for it. I always found the lower stand position was problematical anyway, and the upper bracing point of the top tube would work better I think.

Weight-weenie wonderland ! Won't work with a rear-drive eBike though.

Exactly the kind of thing; and since we generally have some carrying capacity, stowing it folded isn't a problem.
I like the idea a lot actually and bound to be really easy to make with a folding rod to begin with. Choice of propping points, especially with a cross-bar.

Just swap out the handle of one of these for a hook :

I like these ideas and using the crossbar or possibly seat post as propping point on stepthru frames makes a lot of sense.

Perhaps there could be an attachment which would stay clamped to the bike with a short tube that the prop would lock into?

These high point propstands are sometimes used by trailer users to give added stability, but in all cases they really need a handbrake on the bike as well to prevent the stand geometry rolling the bike forward or backwards off the stand. I added a handbrake to one of my trailer towing bikes for this purpose, but on the other bike used the stirrup wheel lock on hills for the same purpose.

Back in the 1950's, Army motorcycles had something similar but permanently fitted.
As for me, I want an umbrella carrier!

We carry a couple of biggish brollies, bungee'd to the crossbars, when we go trail-riding with the grandchildren in tow:

Yes,a good bit of kit it works at it's best when used on quick sand then i used it again to pull myself out of the quick sand then used the stick again for the third time to pull my bike out of the quick sand.
