Hi

I have brought a powabyke it needs batteries but I am unsure what batteries it needs. The bike has only one speed and is blue it looks like a eurobyke. I have no intructions or anything I have tried powabyke site but i cannot find them. Can I use the bike with no batteries. Does anyone know where i can info from.

Regards

Carl

If it's an older model then it will be using Sealed Lead Acid (SLA) batteries which are cheap and easy to replace (but heavy). If it's a newer one then it could have a Lithium pack instead. I believe that the powabyke uses three 12v, 15Ah battery packs which are strung together in series within the battery case. You should be able to get hold of three new batteries for around £30-35 each.

Here's some on ebay now... POWABYKE ELECTRIC BICYCLE BATTERY 1 X 12VOLT 15 AMP on eBay (end time 31-Jul-09 14:08:26 BST)

Powabyke do almost everything via their extensive dealer network Carl, so if you check with them via their site, you'll no doubt find a Powabyke dealer not far from you who will help with any issues. As Fecn says though, most change the batteries themselves, buying them independently.

Powabyke's own Frank Curran is a member of this site and he also gives extensive help to members.

Hi Carl, they are 3 x 12v 15amp batteries that we use. A complete set can be purchased through a local dealer (and fitted) for a cost of circa £130. As a couple of members have stated though you can pick up batteries for less via ebay etc but do be warned that they may not last long.

Drop me an email on fcurran@powabyke.com if you need to find a local dealer.
