Flicking through this fortnight's Makro mail I noticed they have the following offer on soon:

PowaCycle Salisbury
  • Lithium polymer battery 26V (not 37V like most bikes) 273 watt hours, up to 37 miles.
  • Twist throttle max 12mph. PowaCycle site says 15mph (200W motor) - perhaps this Makro offer is a lower spec?
  • Shimano 6 speed
  • Aluminium frame
  • Front and seat suspension
  • Price on PowaCycle site is £765
  • Standard Makro price £500+vat = £588
  • Makro offer 14th-27th July £450+vat = £529
  • Not available in Manchester, Bristol, Pool, Queensferry or Teeside stores.

I'm guessing they're using some pretty cheap bits to hit such a low price?

However it's good to see them being stocked by a major box shifter. I hope it encourages greater take-up of pedelecs and brings down battery and motor pricing!

PS. I've no connection to Powacycle or Makro.

PPS Makro is a trade warehouse place so you need to be a business of some kind, or have a friend who has a card.

There was also the basic version, not the LPX model.

Makro's is the LPX model, the old £100 cheaper NiMh model was discontinued long ago.

Probably Powacycle retailers aren't very happy with that as Macro is selling these at lower price than the Powacycle does to the retailers I guess. Dammit it's areally low price so maybe I should get one

Tony, dammit man!!! Just noticed you are getting closer to the 15,000 posts. You are really PELECOHOLIC :D do you know that?

:D. Actually I've cut right down. My average over the years has been 11.06 posts per day, but of late:

4th July = 4 posts

5th July = 0 posts

6th July = 1 post

7th July = 0 posts

8th July = 3 posts

Average 1.6 posts per day. I'm becoming a stranger! :)

Not really Rog, I get out all year round and today the 30 degrees C has curtailed my outdoors time. The main reason for the gradual reduction of daily posting over time is that the forum is becoming more mature and has many skilled members, both for general help and for specialisations, like your own expertise in SLA for example. Therefore I'm only one amongst many and have far fewer reasons to post.

Altogether much changed from pedelec's opening months in 2006 when I was just about the only helper, posting up to 20 times a day with technical help.

It's more a memory thing than anything Paul. We all see most of the information passing us as it crops up but soon forget much of that barrage of information. My advantage is the sort of weird memory that retains most of it, and I supplement that with a folder of numerous Word Pad notes containing additional fine detail, currently nearly a thousand of those.

I'll try not to Nigel, but at 74 I won't live for ever, and no-one's irreplaceable anyway. Members own such a wide variety of e-bike models now that inquirers can frequently get help from an owner thoroughly familiar with the fine detail of their bike.
