the job was posted 22 days ago and tbh my m8 works in a factory with no skills needed and is on more than £12 per hour, do you really want ppl fixing a 10k bike on min wage because you get what you pay for and does not end well either side when some twat try's to smash out a axle the wrong way because they cant be assed to look for the service manual.

if i was to take a job like this id want a master tool kit so had every tool for every job for any bike.

and that cost 8k

so id have to work a hole year just to be able to afford the tools id need to do the job and not destroy components.

and every bike out the box would need a complete rebuild out the box for a pdi b4 it was delivered to the customer.

What was that saying? A bad workman blames his tools.
Joking aside, it's nigh impossible to find a good guy wanting to work on bike repairs, fast and competent. Never mind the money.
Bike repair is unfortunately seen as non-specialist.

Very true, the only source is usually mechanically minded keen bike riders who've gained lots of experience over time. But the low levels of cycling in Britain makes them scarce.

I bet there's no problem with finding someone suitable in The Netherlands where 70% of the population cycle daily.

What you need is for vfr400 to regenerate like Dr.Who, then have him cloned, copy the neuron states from vfr's current brain to those clones, then regularly and repeatedly brainwash those brains, to accept that measly hourly rate.

That job posting has been there for 23 days: Why don't you go through an agency, and hire on a temporary basis instead? You'd end up paying about £25 an hour - most of that would go to the agency, but you could hire and fire at will, until you got someone worth keeping, if you could pay enough to keep that person.

Wages have been stagnant for decades, but if employers paid decent wages to all their workers, they wouldn't be able to pay their directors 2000 times as much, and would rapidly go out of business.

Yes, I was going to mention that, thought I'd keep it short - I could rant all day about wage stagnation.

The Dutch are taking our jobs! That we don't want, because they don't pay enough.

The most important thing is to get someone who will stay. For that, you need to think about what will motivate them to stay or go. Wages are not the only motivating factors.

I think everybody needs a vision - if they are happy with the direction and progress of the business, they'll stick around.

Soundwave, with such high demand for ebikes and their repair, upgrade and maintenance you could do well setting up your own shop.

tbh if you had a ebike out of warranty most lbs wont touch it with a barge pole because of liability esp if it can be made to go faster in the settings or has a dongle fitted to the motor so it cant easily be removed.

when i broke my xd driver/free hub i rang every ebike shop in town and only 1 said they would take a look at it as the best lbs was booked up for months and always is cos there the best and prices to match and do hi end bikes and has every tool needed for every job!

even the shop i took it to did not have a clue how to remove it and went for a hammer to smash the axle out so had to step in and point out how it does come off and was jammed on because the bearings had turned to paste.

the new one went on in 5 seconds after a fkn hr off prying the old one off 1mm at a time ;)

Social currency is cheaper than a pay rise: Rewarding them with a higher position in the pecking order, works nearly every time. It's shocking how many people can be prevented from leaving, by giving them a new job title - without an increase in pay. Humans are strange creatures:
