Still with the possiblity of a puncture on my Pro-Connect in the future(God forbid), I wanted to become confortable with removing the wheels on my Pro-Connect.
Removing the front whell is very easy, though the rear wheel is another matter.

Can anyone go through the process of doing this....

I feel you can probably just undo the rear wheel nuts, push the wheel towards the frame and slip off the chain, but how do you dis-engage the gears.

Any pictures would be very helpful and good future reference for the growing Pro-Connect owners club.

Hope you can help.
Regards Bob.

PS if I can manage it I will try to produce a rear wheel removal procedure to send anyone, but I will need the information regarding the gears first.

PPS 50cycles info pack should really contain this procedure for future owners really who are not bike savvy like me.

Here you are Bob, JamesC posted some excellent and very detailed instructions about sprocket change on the Pro Connect, and they include every step on the wheel removal originally posted by Aldby. Here's the link:

OK got it Tony.
Pasted it here for easier reference.

To remove the rear wheel on the ProConnect:
1. Select 1st gear, this releases tension on the gear cable.
2. You should now be able to pull the outer cable forwards by a few millimetres where it locates into the cassette holder.
3. The inner gear cable will now be free of tension and can be easily detached from the gear hub.
Column 3 in Nexus 8 PDF describes this well. It helps greatly to get a little extra slack using a thin 2mm Allen key or old spoke placed in the hole on the outside of the cassette pulley, as described at the foot of the column. Do NOT disturb the inner cable fixing bolt.
4. Slacken off the rear V brakes completely so that the wheel and tyre are freely removable.

TO REPLACE WHEEL.
Reverse above &......
Set bike upright.
Select 4th gear to check that yellow marks are still aligned.
Reconnect brakes.
Double check wheel nuts.
Gently test that everything turns smoothly.
