Yes, easily Steve. I had one of these on my boat switching between two batteries.

OK ta. Plan is hatching !!!

Just waiting for a reply from Kudos.

Basically I'm thinking of strapping a Kudos 24v battery on to the top of the carrier on the Lafree and running both the batteries to a switch like the one I found on eBay. Then I can have the benefit of more range or a lighter bike depending on whether I use one or two batteries.

Anyone know what type of connectors there are and whether there is a switch on the 24v battery on the Kudos Versatile.

Guess it would be a bad thing to run both batteries together (there is an option for this on the switch) as they are different chemistry.

You could put a diode ( acts like a one valve ) in series with each battery feed to the switch.
This would stop any current flowing from one battery to the other because of any voltage difference between the two, but at a cost of a power loss across the diode terminals in the form of heat.

Better would be to use some of Nick's Ideal Diodes but I'm not sure if he still makes them, he can be found over on ES as 'Tiberius' or drop him an email as listed on his web site:

A word of warning.
If you consider going down the ideal diode route I would seek assurance from the supplier that should the microelectronic control circuitry fail the device would automatically only default to maximum protection.
If a diode fails it acts like a blown fuse and isolates the battery.

Easier to run both separately Steve, the voltage differences between the two types do need isolation as others mention. However, there's not much advantage in running the Lafree's moderate power from the two together paralleled, either battery easily copes with the demand by itself.

Therefore I'd say just keep it as a simple changeover.

Separately was how I envisaged using them but as the switch has a "both" position i thought I'd ask !
