I thought this looked promising. Amazing how the German Post Office has bought more electric bikes, while ours just drives around in vans, chucking the delivery man/woman out the back as required.

Amazing how the German Post Office has bought more electric bikes, while ours just drives around in vans, chucking the delivery man/woman out the back as required.

At one time our Postal service had plans to buy 16,000 e-bikes, but a thorough investigation showed clearly that wasn't the best option. What ours settled on was a mixed arrangement depending on areas and needs, and in some zones it's vans. Even they are not all used to the same pattern, it's tailored to each area's needs.

The result is far more efficient overall and avoids the problems e-bikes would have presented. Germany of course is a very different country and their circumstances are far from the same.
