Its now time to replace my cassette and chain. Original is shimano xt 9 speed and has been good for 14000 kilometres but now they seem to be out of stock with the major online suppliers so I need a good alternative. Suggestions welcome. The bike is a Moda Alto a good hybrid assembled in Derbyshire with all very good components and now with a bbs crank drive

You can use any make of 9spd cassette the fitting interface are all the same, just select one with the same size teeth count to match your derailleur.
Again any 9 spd chain will work whether it is Wipperman, KMC , Shimano or Sram etc, etc.
There's no rocket science behind which you use the expensive ones are a bit lighter and may save you a few hundred grams.

As far as I'm concerned they all dot he same job and made from the same materials so buy /use KMC or Shimano when on offer below £10.
